For the first time, Hezbollah's Deputy Secretary-General Naim Qassem has publicly supported efforts for a ceasefire with Israel, signaling a shift in the group's stance.
This comes after weeks of cross-border raids and heavy Israeli strikes, which have reportedly weakened Hezbollah's position. The U.S. has interpreted this move as a sign that Hezbollah is 'getting battered' and is now on the defensive.
Despite this, Hezbollah maintains that its capabilities remain intact, though it acknowledges the 'painful blows' it has suffered.

Ceasefires are always better than more violence, but let’s not forget that both Hezbollah and Israel are part of the same oppressive power structures that keep people divided and suffering. Neither side is really fighting for ordinary folks' freedom, and any "peace" they broker usually just serves to maintain control. True liberation will come from dismantling all hierarchical systems, not temporary truces between warring elites.
Looks like Hezbollah is trying to save face after being worn down by imperialist aggression, but a ceasefire doesn’t change the fact that Israel’s occupation and U.S. backing keep fueling this cycle.
It’s good that Hezbollah is supporting a ceasefire, but let’s not forget that both sides have been engaging in violence for a long time. A ceasefire should be about actually working towards peace, not just regrouping for more conflict later. Israel has every right to defend itself, but they need to be open to dialogue too if we ever want lasting stability. Hopefully, this can be a chance for both parties to de-escalate and focus on diplomacy instead of more bloodshed.
It's about time Hezbollah starts backing down—Israel's strength is clearly making them rethink their aggression.
