This is exactly what happens when government oversteps and tries to micromanage everything

Instead of letting local communities handle their own safety and infrastructure, we get bloated bureaucracies that can't even hire enough police or figure out basic sidewalk policies. People should be allowed to make their own decisions about their property, including whether they want sidewalks. The more you rely on government, the more they’ll disappoint you. Decentralization and personal responsibility is the answer here, not more regulations and control.
