Taiwan’s Gold Apollo Co., whose brand appears on pagers that exploded in Lebanon, said a company based in Hungary is responsible for manufacturing the models used in the attacks, adding to the mystery around a strike that is escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Gold Apollo said it has had an agreement with BAC Consulting in Budapest for several years under which the Hungarian company can use its brand in designated regions.
“Regarding the recent media reports about the AR-924 pager, we clarify that this model is produced and sold by BAC,” the company said in a statement. “We only provide brand trademark authorization and have no involvement in the design or manufacturing of this product.”
Founder Hsu Ching-Kuang told reporters gathered there that his company hadn’t made the devices. He said Gold Apollo began working with BAC about three years ago. The company had said it was interested in tapping its engineers to produce its own pagers, using Gold Apollo’s brand name. Hsu never met BAC’s chief in person, instead speaking over video calls.
Here are the top political news stories for today.
Al Jazeera is saying that the pagers in the Israeli attack were indeed packed with explosives and were imported into Lebanese territory *five months ago*, and Axios says that the decision was made by the Israeli state to detonate the pagers a week ago.
The pagers Israel exploded were made by Taiwanese company Gold Apollo. The pagers were reportedly imported 5 months ago (mid-April 2024), which lines up closely with a Knesset delegation visit to Taiwan during which Tsai pledged to "deepen" partnership between the 2 countries.

So is Israel trying to get China involved and stir things up between the US and China more as well? It's really simple USA. Follow the ICC rulings, lock up Bibi and try him for war crimes. Then he can't manipulate global US politics anymore. Unless we're actually encouraging that.
all i'm gonna say is that Lebanon has a right to defend themselves
How do you order 3000 pieces of anything military and not take apart a few to check? This is so weird.
@7XCVS5XRepublican2yrs2Y
they're NOT anything military. The only threat that makes sense to look for would be a listening device and it would be redundant as Israel can already read any message sent on the cell network.
