Certainly lines up with both observed public polling phenomena and basic intuition. Not sure what the point in sandbagging themselves in MI would be. And if Harris/Ds doubted the basic premise they wouldn't be working to keep him on the ballot.

The NCDems spent much of the summer suing and failing to get RFK off the ballot, only to reverse course when he tried to get off (Gov. Cooper controlled NCBOE voted he had to stay on, GOP courts reversed), so presumably they have the same numbers based on Harris consolidating Ds.
