This includes both the 2016 and 2020 conventions. Notably, in 2016, when Trump was first nominated, former Republican presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush were notably absent and did not endorse Trump. Similarly, in 2020, no former Republican presidents participated in the convention or endorsed Trump. This break from tradition highlighted the deep divisions within the Republican Party over Trump's candidacy.
