While Joe Biden and his administration try to clean up and hide the mess they made in Ukraine and the middle east, China, Russia, Iran, North Korea and many others play offense.

Don't worry. We'll defeat those rascally Chinese with our proper use of pronouns.

On a more serious note...

Remember when Biden dismissed the Chinese as a competitor for global interests, in the same way Obama dismissed Mitt Romney's concern with Russian regional hegemony ?

Why is it Americans are so ill-informed and generally so internationally stupid? Much, if NOT all, of the difficulties faced by Democratic regimes have been caused by xenophobic Republicans, reference Dumbass and the First ***** in the White House 2017-2021, generally the stupidest people in American politics! The only people stupider are their supporters! Now we have the prospect of the lunatic American voters in a country touting democracy when it is NOT (the United **** holes for Assholes [USA] is {always has been} an oligarchy) possibly electing a convicted criminal to their Presidency? Make no mistake the incoherent, incompetent Dumbass (Trump) is more mob boss than politician?

Maybe, just maybe, we should think about economic development and not war, for a change. China is running circles around us. Why? How many wars are they in right now? How many wars are they funding? Zero.

Beat me to it. Yes, why does this(and actually most port infrastructure development in global south) have to be viewed through lenses of national ‘insecurity’? This has obvious economic benefits for Peru and South America-Asia trade?

 @J0intResolutionCurMountain from Texas  commented…2yrs2Y

Peru asked US for competing offer, and got none.

They were expected to support US foreign policy on their own dime.

 @IntrepidRadicalSocialist from Illinois  agreed…2yrs2Y

US instead meddles about overseas in wasteful foreign adventures that bring only cost and never any profit.

What are your thoughts on the potential cultural and environmental impacts of such a large infrastructure project on local communities and ecosystems?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

How would you feel if a foreign power built a significant infrastructure project in your country, potentially changing its economic landscape?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

Considering the importance of global trade routes, do you think it's fair for one country to hold significant power over such a crucial economic gateway?
