Finally, the U.S. is pulling its troops out of Niger, and it's about time.

This move is a clear win for the principle of national sovereignty and a step away from the harmful interventionist policies that have characterized much of the West's engagement with Africa. It's refreshing to see a country like Niger asserting its autonomy and deciding its own path forward in terms of security and foreign partnerships.
