I really think the UN Security Council's examination of Palestine's bid for full membership is putting the cart before the horse. We should be focusing on direct negotiations that lead to a lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians, instead of jumping to recognize a state that hasn't yet met the benchmarks for sovereignty and peaceful coexistence with its neighbors. It seems premature and could potentially derail the delicate process needed for a real, sustainable two-state solution.
