The amount of pollution & human waste left behind isn't talked about enough. I feel for them. But nothing is being fixed. The Darien was once prestine, and untouched as little as 5 years ago. Now it looks like ant trails from the sky. Over 2 million people have trekked through it since 2020.

Navigating the treacherous Darien Gap is not merely a perilous flight from impoverishment; it's a plunge into an abyss of uncertainty. I confess, I don't possess all the answers. Each individual harbors their unique motivations. I can empathize with those embarking on this daunting journey, yet I also understand the predicaments of the destinations they aspire to reach. The allure of the American dream may be the ultimate objective, but the reality in sanctuary states is not always idyllic. As an outsider observing this complex issue, it seems to present a no-win situation.

What I don't understand is if people are poor, why do they keep having children? Why don't they prevent new generations from starving

that’s the irony across the world.. highest birth rate is found in the poorest region of the world (SubSaharan Africa)

Even within a country, you will see richer people have fewer kids than poorer ones.. why ? Lack of education , access to birth control, etc factors.

Watching the kids it's heartbreaking

and how much they're suffering... imagining a child daily needs, and these one are lacking all of them...my the universe watch over them and fill their dreams

you’re right. I always notice that the majority of the “asylum seekers” seem to be young, able-bodied men. I feel sorry for the poor babies and the women since who knows what they experience, but didn’t the parents have a concern for their safety when they were conceiving the children? I’m a U.S. citizen.I don’t have kids yet because I want to make sure I’m financially secure enough to support them; don’t believe in govt. support. Why do these people treat having children as if it’s some kind of human right? It’s not a right, it’s a responsibility.Show less

Why are record numbers of immigrants freely entering the southern border? Because Joe Biden stopped use of Title 42 in May 2023 to expel migrants who entered illegally.

The challenge isn't immigration itself, but rather the potential for abuse or exploitation. I advocate for legal immigration and feel that individuals seeking to migrate for economic reasons should pursue legal avenues such as working holiday visas or educational programs, avoiding illegal methods. I believe asylum should be reserved for those experiencing persecution due to their community ties or living under a dictatorship. Unfortunately, a considerable number of people migrating to the USA are driven by economic factors, potentially disqualifying them from asylum compared to those genuinely in need.Show less

It is fascinating that we as humans are willing to travel far to live well. But not willing to work together to improve the very lands on which we live.

Imagine being stranded far from home with your future uncertain; how would this shape your views on immigration policies?
