Officials from the United Nations have accused Israel of “systematically” blocking aid from reaching desperate Palestinians in Gaza, warning that at least one-quarter of the enclave’s population was a step away from famine without urgent action.
The warnings on Tuesday came as footage from northern Gaza showed Israeli forces again opening fire on Palestinians gathering to collect food in the area.
Here we are, at the end of February, with at least 576,000 people in Gaza – one-quarter of the population – one step away from famine,” Ramesh Rajasingham, the deputy chief of the UN humanitarian agency (OCHA), told the UN Security Council (UNSC).
One in six children under the age of two in northern Gaza suffers from acute malnutrition and wasting and practically all the 2.3 million people in the Palestinian enclave rely on “woefully inadequate” food aid to survive, he told the meeting on food security in Gaza.
“If nothing is done, we fear widespread famine in Gaza is almost inevitable and the conflict will have many more victims,” he said.

“I’m prepared to accept that possibly there are other factors involved, such as Hamas corruption, Hamas diverting food and so on.”
that should be the first place you are looking. hamas is swimming in billions of dollars in 5 star hotels in qatar while they let their population starve. if they surrendered there would be no siege. the pro hamas are just now realizing that all their issues could be solved if hamas was out of power.
Gaza has relied on food aid for years. How many aid trucks/week?
This is the legacy of Habas management. They're fine with a 50% poverty rate, 25% unemployment rates, polluted ground water. And camps that gave simply been maintained for generations.
Once the hostages are released, I hope the Gazans are able to I literate the stinking tunnels, build good homes and businesses and develop a better economy for themselves. They will need new leaders, however.
The hard truth? Israel has ALREADY LOST the war. In every country and almost every demographic, the Israeli government is not seen as doing the right thing. Every day they continue, they lose more. There’s no way to win that war.
Sooner or later, Americans will see that and stop paying for the war. Then what?
So, as a dear friend of the idea of Israel, I’m begging anyone with influence to persuade the powers to stop destroying themselves and the beautiful idea of free, democratic, just Israel. Make peace. Look like a peacemaker. Rebuild. Forgo revenge. Befriend moderate Muslim states and peoples. Tell your story. Use your know how and wealth for good. Show people the way. Your values
That is a war Israel can win.
Israel announced on the first day of their campaign "no food, water or fuel" would be allowed into Gaza. The intent was clear: to starve the civilian population. Israel largely controlled the flow of material into Gaza before the conflict through its sixteen year blockade.
To state the obvious that Hamas is a delusional terrorist organization with no realistic plan to lead the Palestinians does not justify Israel's mass murder of a civilian population.

Hamas needs to quit hiding among civilians and using them as human shields. That is what is prolonging the war and preventing civilians from receiving food and other supplies.
I think it is misleading to pin this in Israel. Name another conflict where an army hid among its own people and expected their opponent to quit fighting to prevent civilian casualties.

The bodies coming out of the bombings are bodies of women and children--not Hamas soldiers. More children killed in this war than have been killed in all other conflicts in the world in the last ten years --combined. Yes we do expect Israelis to stop bombing children, doctors, aid workers, journalists. 22,000 killed. Very few Hamas soldiers.
What is happening with Gaza needs to be stopped.

Famine for any reason terrible, especially so if brought on by war

The American government is egging on this humanitarian crisis. There is without a doubt in my mind Israel couldn’t’ve gone this far if it didn’t have U.S backing.
