The only reason there is a "crisis" on the border is because although the migrants are coming to work hard for a better life, our current system prevents them from doing so and thus creates a burden on our already underfunded social services.

America rose to become the richest and most powerful country on the backs of the immigrants who surged across our borders around the turn of the 20th Century.

During those days, more Americans came through Ellis Island than are arriving at our borders today. And even though people want to deny the facts, the truth is the majority of those who arrived didn't have any documents or identification. They didn't speak English and they had virtually no money.

People who undertake the arduous journey to come to our country today are highly motivated and committed to become part of the American Dream.

Unfortunately, the political climate today, rife with the lies and misinformation from the Republican Party, is not conducive to real immigration reform.

Therefore, the Dems need to hold their nose and vote for the bipartisan bill in the Senate.
