They should also learn about the party switch and the fact that Abraham Lincoln was still a blatant white supremacist who expressly believed that black people were inherently inferior to white people, which is bad.

Abraham Lincoln's views on race, it is a well-documented and self-evident fact, evolved over the course of the war. While yes, initially he believed in the superiority of whites, by the end of the war he said he believed in black equality (John Wilkes Booth assassinated Lincoln because he publicly pushed for black voting rights and political equality.) The party switch is a gross oversimplification, elements of both ancient parties have blended into each of the two parties we see today.
