If we deny a defenseless child that, we logically do not have a right to our own lives. Additionally, 99% of abortions are NOT because of rape, incest, or medical conditions - therefore, 99% of women who get an abortion knew the consequences of their sexual conduct and the life it could create. Second, a baby's heartbeat can be heard at 8 weeks of development - as of right now, with technology at its current level, it cannot be heard earlier. Third, the point of viability is becoming lower and lower as technology improves, therefore, a baby still in the womb must be alive if it can live with help outside his/her mother's body at the point of viability. In 40 years, the point of viability has gone from 37 weeks to 21 weeks 1 day. It is also worth noting that even after a baby is born if he/she has the chance to fully develop inside the womb, he/she still cannot survive on its own. Fourth, abortions not only kill children, they harm the mothers as well. Side effects of abortion include long term liver damage, damage to the pancreas, infertility, depression, suicidality, blood clots, and more. Fifth, abortions are actually discriminatory based on gender. 70% of abortions are of female children that are sex-selectively aborted. Sixth, there is a gender health gap. More money is spent on men's reproductive health than women's. Black and Hispanic women especially are overlooked, and there is very little research on women's reproduction. Seventh, there are prenatal care centers that provide free or low cost prenatal care, adoption services, and more, many times including housing and financial support. These agencies also provide postnatal care, and do not just abandon children. These centers are not publicized and lauded for their good deeds. Instead, Planned Parenthood, an organization that encourages abortion and provides abortion services for sex traffickers, is highly publicized as a "reputable" organization when nothing could be farther from the truth. Eighth, Planned Parenthood and other abortion organizations do not tell patients the risks of aborting a baby. Ninth, if the foster system is so terrible, then why are there families quite literally waiting to adopt a child? Allowing abortions will not magically fix the foster system, if it truly is in such terrible condition. As such, abortion should be outlawed unless in cases of rape, incest, or medical conditions - and even those cases should be monitored closely to ensure that there is accountability, and in the case of medical conditions, there is no way both mother and baby could survive pregnancy until the point of viability.
