Homeless when allowed to live on public property will increase crime rates, spread of disease, open drug use, and promote deteriorating mental health among the homeless population. It is our duty to protect the vulnerable, not enable self destructive behavior.
How exactly does allowing homeless individuals to live/sleep on public property (as opposed to other locations in every city in the country where they live/sleep) "promote deteriorating mental health among the homeless population?" I should think it would be the opposite - public properties are usually cleaner and better kept than underpasses and gutters and would probably be a welcomed change.
