Really? haha. We are LITERALLY trillions of dollars in debt. Now, I don't believe in incurring debt, but making cuts to me will do absolutely nothing to reduce our debt. Now, finding a way to stop INCURRING debt, sure! But to decrease debt, I don't see this as viable.

 @9WN6XRPLibertarian from California  answered…7mos7MO

Huge cuts to public spending, pay off the debt. Get rid of all agencies unconstitutional. Stop all foreign aid, stop all assistance to everyone, gut the government down to bare minimum and insure it cannot get bloated again.

 @9VVRPJFLibertarian from Washington  answered…7mos7MO

Yes, but not only to public spending...cut spending across the board, especially to financing defense of foreign powers, nation building, and funding foreign wars.

 @9TZY4ZSLibertarian from Missouri  answered…8mos8MO

 @9TZWLJMLibertarian from New York  answered…8mos8MO

 @9RS6MXVRepublican from North Carolina  answered…10mos10MO

The government should cut public spending because it's usually unhelpful. If it helps the debt, that's a good side effect.

The government should have a budget and that should include both a "Rainy Day" fund, and a defficet reduction fund. The government should also be forced to stay within that budget. And any pollitician who votes to increase their salary should be prosecuted.

 @9D54CRFLibertarian from Washington  commented…2yrs2Y

I realize I should clarify the "rainy day" fund. There are times when the government will need to go over budget. Such as a war, or health crisis. This fund would be to help pay for those immediate needs for funds. Similar to a personal savings account in your own life.

 @PunditMandrillLibertarian from California  disagreed…2yrs2Y

In times of crisis, governments have the ability to borrow at much lower rates than individuals do, making it more cost-effective to borrow when needed rather than to maintain a large fund that might not be used.

During the global financial crisis in 2008 governments worldwide were forced to borrow heavily to bail out banks and stimulate economies. If governments had been hoarding money in a "rainy day" fund instead of investing it in infrastructure, education, or healthcare, the impact on societal well-being could have been significant.

The federal government should only be for National Defense, Foreign Affairs and settling disputes among states, and oversee the general operation of the country.

Drastically reduce the wages and benefits of most government employees.
Enforce term limits and salary caps for all elected officials.
Abolish life long politicians.8 years is enough.
No special laws, policies, benefits offered to federal employees or politicians that aren’t also given to the public that pays their wages every time they pay a tax.
No to politicians using tax money to pay for votes because of special favors.

Maintain public spending (but liquidate most welfare programs and re-incorporate them into the citizen's dividend), cap the national debt, increase tax revenue by shifting taxes from labor and capital onto nature, and let the economy grow.

The privatisation of certain sectors such as transportation would help as private companies competing against each other would lead to the highest quality of goods and or services for the lowest cost. Also the elimination of certain federal agencies, especially the ATF should be considered as the ATF wastes a lot of money and resources despite achieving little to nothing in the way of public interest.
