What role do you think religion should play in education, and why?

 @9KMCDR5from Montana  answered…1yr1Y

Absolutely none. I don’t want kids indoctrinated into those morons’ insane Jesus cult.

Wanting the separation of church and state is fine, but putting down others' beliefs is not acceptable.

 @9S44WP5from Maine  commented…7mos7MO

What if my belief is that for example jews are literally demons? Will you respect my religion?

 @9TFWSTW from Florida  commented…6mos6MO

It's my belief that it's acceptable to put down others' beliefs. Goddamn snowflakes!

 @9KT9JGC from Colorado  disagreed…1yr1Y

There is absolutely no hope for you if you don’t know Jesus. Life on earth is temporary with him though it is eternal. I am and will always be a Christian.

 @9S44WP5from Maine  disagreed…7mos7MO

You are merely a cult member and a danger to all of us who believe in freedom from religion.

  @@1876-Elbert from Colorado  commented…5mos5MO

We are no threat. We, unlike some people, are not trying to force you into our ways.

  @@1876-Elbert from Colorado  commented…5mos5MO

No, what they are is someone who truly knows our purpose.

I pray for you, that God will put someone in your life to help you see truth.

 @9KTB7VX from Florida  disagreed…1yr1Y

I also do not think that religion should play a role in education as it is irrelevant to the overall goals of educators. However, there is no reason to disrespect people's views or religion.

 @9KT9FHN from North Carolina  disagreed…1yr1Y

It is important for children to have a basic understanding of religion. It doesn’t have to just be Christianity and there is no reason to exclude other religions but children should be given a basic overview with no bias even as simply as in a history unit

 @9KMBC6Y from Minnesota  answered…1yr1Y

Children should be taught some Christianity in schools,

 @9KTFGRZ  from Florida  agreed…1yr1Y

All children should be taught about different religions in school to learn about different cultures, which includes Christianity.

 @9KNDCK8Socialist from North Carolina  disagreed…1yr1Y

Christianity is only one of the biggest religions in the world. It is not even the top contender. If you want children to be taught Christianity, then they should also be taught Islam and Hinduism. Religion is a personal choice and adventure of the individual. Schools have no right to force one onto a child. They may offer the means for a child to learn about any religion they would like, but they should not force one.

 @9KN6JTSProgressive  from Arizona  disagreed…1yr1Y

There is no benefit to learning Christianity in schools and it has no impact on learning the subjects children need to learn

 @9KNDPJF from Nebraska  disagreed…1yr1Y

It would be unconstitutional because of the separation between church and state. If parents want their kids to receive a Christian education they should go to private school

 @9KJDGWJ from California  answered…1yr1Y

RELIGION NEEDS TO BE ABOLISHED IN SCHOOL #KEEPRELIGIONOUTOFSCHOOL
you should not be involving religion with anything politics, school, etc.

 @42R8P4CLibertarian disagreed…1yr1Y

Religion has been an important part of human history and should be understood. Not any specific religion, and no worldview should be forced on any student. It would benefit our youth if classes on all major religions were taught, and possibly even classes on minor religions that are popular in the area that the school is in.

 @9KKPDFH from Nevada  disagreed…1yr1Y

the constitution uses words like god. they should choose religion or no religion its up to them but this shouldnt stop teachers from teaching about god.

 @9KKN2ZW from Georgia  disagreed…1yr1Y

As a Religious person my life is based on religion but no one should be forced to conform to a belief

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington  disagreed…1yr1Y

Then we need to remove the religion of Darwinianism from school as well

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia  commented…1yr1Y

There’s literally no god or established organization attached to that, calling it a religion is just a derogatory statement to make yourself sound right. Calling Darwinism a religion is honestly ridiculous, that’s like calling paleontology a cult.

  @@1876-Elbert from Colorado  commented…5mos5MO

It is undoubtedly a religion. Many followers? Check. A god? Check (in the form of 'Mother Nature'). A head speaker? Check (Darwin).

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington  disagreed…1yr1Y

It is a religion in the sense that it takes, on faith, the notion that human beings are electrified soup. It has missionaries who go to public schools and universities trying to convert creationists. It has high ranking churchmen who are esteemed and respected above everyone else (Hawking, for example), it views rejection of the narrative as Heresy, and excomunicates from participation in many aspects of the scientific community its skeptics.

 @9KNWKX4from Pennsylvania  disagreed…1yr1Y

Given that evolution actually has proof whereas creationism does not, calling it a religion seems weird. Also what the **** is darwinianism? That's not a real word, pal.

  @@1876-Elbert from Colorado  commented…5mos5MO

Please, if there actually is proof for Darwinianism, enlighten me. Also, it is undoubtedly a religion. Many followers? Check. A god? Check (in the form of 'Mother Nature'). A head speaker? Check (Darwin).

 @9KQTFJYWomen’s Equality from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

It shouldn't have a role regardless! I'm in school to learn about how to do math and science, not some religion bs.

 @9KV9V9Y from Louisiana  disagreed…1yr1Y

You're in school to learn how to be a critical thinking, educated, productive member of society. Learning about religion will broaden your world view and, as long as it is not pushed on you, only has positive benefits. In a place you go to learn things, you should be learning about the single most powerful organizations in the world. Whether or not you are religious, you need to understand why others are, and how their religion impacts their views.

 @9KVBBQ2 from Ohio  agreed…1yr1Y

History of different religions could be an elective or someone's major but allowing the religion itself to dictate anything about education policy is wrong.

 @9KV99WP from Oregon  disagreed…1yr1Y

In public education religion must have a role, at the very least social studies courses so students can have a basic understanding of religion, morals, and how they effect societal structure and government.

 @9KVM2XVRepublican from Maryland  agreed…1yr1Y

You're not allowed to push one religion, especially in school and student don't wanna be pushed into something they don't believe in.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

How might a commitment to religious teachings impact your views on environmental responsibility?

 @9KFRM95  from Ohio  answered…1yr1Y

I am a follower of Christ so I see the world as another of God's beautiful creations that we should strive to protect and prevent ourselves from polluting. I think we can use religious teachings to help people understand that even though the world has resources for us to use, we have to protect the our world and environment from corrupt practices. Also feel free to eat veggies or meat, both are intended for humans consumption.

 @9KHDPCC from Florida  agreed…1yr1Y

We should keep our world clean from pollution and changes we don't want to see to the beautiful creations God has made for us.

 @9K8YLYC from California  commented…1yr1Y

I'm no longer religious, but when I was I wasn't as concerned about environmental responsibility as I believed that the world was coming to an end, thus it wasn't important.

 @9K8YMWR from Ohio  commented…1yr1Y

It shouldn’t because while I may have spiritual beliefs, science is completely separate is proven by fact and logical reasoning while my religion is what I believe without having direct proof.

No, i've witnessed scenarios where religious dialogue has STARTED conflict, but definitely not resolved it.

 @9JLRYMX from Maryland  agreed…1yr1Y

majority of the religious argument under Christianity usually leads to quoting the bible about something, and how that needs to be followed, but there are millions of things that clearly aren't followed by Christians like in the same verse that Christians against males wearing female garment and vice versa, the bible says to have a tassel on the corners of your garment. there are hundreds of examples of how ludicrous these arguments are, yet I have to go out of my way to research this stuff and Christians will make up stuff

Yes.

Take education, for example. There was a time when there were multiple explanations for our universe, but just the other day my kid's science teacher told them this just before she taught the big bang: "there are other theories, but I'm not allowed to teach them." It should not be this way.

And the healthcare bit? Since when was it okay to kill a baby because you didn't want it? That baby is one of God's children. Do you think He would be okay with killing that child because it was an inconvenience?

If God says something is wrong, it's wrong.

Take any of the LGBT stuff going on nowadays. God has condemned it, and it is our job to tell people that. But not in a forceful way. We must explain it to them, going through the Ten Commandments and the like.
