Wanting the separation of church and state is fine, but putting down others' beliefs is not acceptable.

What if my belief is that for example jews are literally demons? Will you respect my religion?

It's my belief that it's acceptable to put down others' beliefs. Goddamn snowflakes!

 @9KT9JGC from Colorado  disagreed…1yr1Y

There is absolutely no hope for you if you don’t know Jesus. Life on earth is temporary with him though it is eternal. I am and will always be a Christian.

 @9S44WP5from Maine  disagreed…7mos7MO

You are merely a cult member and a danger to all of us who believe in freedom from religion.

I also do not think that religion should play a role in education as it is irrelevant to the overall goals of educators. However, there is no reason to disrespect people's views or religion.

 @9KT9FHN from North Carolina  disagreed…1yr1Y

It is important for children to have a basic understanding of religion. It doesn’t have to just be Christianity and there is no reason to exclude other religions but children should be given a basic overview with no bias even as simply as in a history unit

 @9KMBC6Y from Minnesota  answered…1yr1Y

Children should be taught some Christianity in schools,

 @9KTFGRZ  from Florida  agreed…1yr1Y

All children should be taught about different religions in school to learn about different cultures, which includes Christianity.

 @9KNDCK8Socialist from North Carolina  disagreed…1yr1Y

Christianity is only one of the biggest religions in the world. It is not even the top contender. If you want children to be taught Christianity, then they should also be taught Islam and Hinduism. Religion is a personal choice and adventure of the individual. Schools have no right to force one onto a child. They may offer the means for a child to learn about any religion they would like, but they should not force one.

 @9KN6JTSProgressive  from Arizona  disagreed…1yr1Y

There is no benefit to learning Christianity in schools and it has no impact on learning the subjects children need to learn

 @9KNDPJF from Nebraska  disagreed…1yr1Y

It would be unconstitutional because of the separation between church and state. If parents want their kids to receive a Christian education they should go to private school

 @9KJDGWJ from California  answered…1yr1Y

RELIGION NEEDS TO BE ABOLISHED IN SCHOOL #KEEPRELIGIONOUTOFSCHOOL
you should not be involving religion with anything politics, school, etc.

 @42R8P4CLibertarian disagreed…1yr1Y

Religion has been an important part of human history and should be understood. Not any specific religion, and no worldview should be forced on any student. It would benefit our youth if classes on all major religions were taught, and possibly even classes on minor religions that are popular in the area that the school is in.

 @9KKPDFH from Nevada  disagreed…1yr1Y

the constitution uses words like god. they should choose religion or no religion its up to them but this shouldnt stop teachers from teaching about god.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington  disagreed…1yr1Y

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia  commented…1yr1Y

There’s literally no god or established organization attached to that, calling it a religion is just a derogatory statement to make yourself sound right. Calling Darwinism a religion is honestly ridiculous, that’s like calling paleontology a cult.

  @@1876-Elbert from Colorado  commented…5mos5MO

It is undoubtedly a religion. Many followers? Check. A god? Check (in the form of 'Mother Nature'). A head speaker? Check (Darwin).

  @Renaldo-MoonGreen  from Pennsylvania  commented…5mos5MO

Followers yes. Mother nature is not connected to evolution... Darwin's not the head speaker. He started the development and other scientists built on the basic frame he provided.

Is Gravity a religion?

God is mother nature again

Also not all religions have a God/Gods...

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington  disagreed…1yr1Y

It is a religion in the sense that it takes, on faith, the notion that human beings are electrified soup. It has missionaries who go to public schools and universities trying to convert creationists. It has high ranking churchmen who are esteemed and respected above everyone else (Hawking, for example), it views rejection of the narrative as Heresy, and excomunicates from participation in many aspects of the scientific community its skeptics.

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia  disagreed…1yr1Y

Fairh isn’t a thing in science, proof is, and if there’s enough satisfactory proof, then that tends to convince people to believe a theory. The Big Bang has the most physical and tangible proof of any theory of the universe, and as such, is considered the most likely option, therefore, what’s most likely is what’s taught. The “missionaries” are normally what you call teachers, you know, the people who already live and work around the school being taught at. You say it like teachers just walk up to random religious groups then start reading scientific textbo…  Read more

 @9KNWKX4from Pennsylvania  disagreed…1yr1Y

Given that evolution actually has proof whereas creationism does not, calling it a religion seems weird. Also what the **** is darwinianism? That's not a real word, pal.

  @@1876-Elbert from Colorado  commented…5mos5MO

Please, if there actually is proof for Darwinianism, enlighten me. Also, it is undoubtedly a religion. Many followers? Check. A god? Check (in the form of 'Mother Nature'). A head speaker? Check (Darwin).

 @9KQTFJYWomen’s Equality from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

It shouldn't have a role regardless! I'm in school to learn about how to do math and science, not some religion bs.

 @9KV9V9Y from Louisiana  disagreed…1yr1Y

You're in school to learn how to be a critical thinking, educated, productive member of society. Learning about religion will broaden your world view and, as long as it is not pushed on you, only has positive benefits. In a place you go to learn things, you should be learning about the single most powerful organizations in the world. Whether or not you are religious, you need to understand why others are, and how their religion impacts their views.

 @9KVBBQ2 from Ohio  agreed…1yr1Y

History of different religions could be an elective or someone's major but allowing the religion itself to dictate anything about education policy is wrong.

 @9KV99WP from Oregon  disagreed…1yr1Y

In public education religion must have a role, at the very least social studies courses so students can have a basic understanding of religion, morals, and how they effect societal structure and government.

 @9KVM2XVRepublican from Maryland  agreed…1yr1Y

You're not allowed to push one religion, especially in school and student don't wanna be pushed into something they don't believe in.

 @9KN99XB from Nebraska  answered…1yr1Y

I think that it is ok to let religion play a role in schools

 @9KTP5ZN from MP  disagreed…1yr1Y

I think it should not play a role in education at all. School is for learning about commonly agreed on facts, which cannot be debated. Religion is something that not everyone agrees on or believes in, and cannot be solidly proven. Therefore it doesn't have a place in schools.

 @9KTP6F5Democrat from Minnesota  agreed…1yr1Y

I think that religion should play a role in schools, but include all major religions for diversity and inclusion.

 @9KVXYWG from Massachusetts  disagreed…1yr1Y

We are a secular country and religion should only be taught in the context of comparative education.

 @9KTPM9Q from North Carolina  agreed…1yr1Y

Religion is an undeniable aspect of our life and we should be considering everyone's, but it should play a very minimal role in school.

 @9KL7D9B from California  answered…1yr1Y

Personally, I believe that any religion shouldn't be mixed with politics.

 @9KMKLMCConstitution from Oklahoma  agreed…1yr1Y

  @NameIGuessLolSocialist  from Ohio  agreed…7mos7MO

Our parties may be complete opposites, but I have to agree on this. Separation of church and state.

 @9KMZLD4Green from North Carolina  agreed…1yr1Y

Separation of church and state is essential for the proper functioning of a government, as any popular religion, given enough governmental power, is likely to suppress those of other viewpoints and beliefs

 @9KL69Y4  from New York  disagreed…1yr1Y

 @9KN9SF9 from California  answered…1yr1Y

I feel that no religion, racial studies, or gender studies should be allowed in public education. It should be the parent's job to teach that outside of school.

 @9KNZFF5 from Texas  disagreed…1yr1Y

Educators should be able to educate students on every aspect of life to prepare them for the future. Religion should not be taught specifically, but students need to learn about all different types of religions. Gender studies is necessary because students are living in a world where nothing is filtered, so people will look a certain way. Parents push their agenda's most days and have a tendency to shield their kids from certain concepts, avoiding them from fully learning and understanding.

 @9KNZ6TD from Wisconsin  disagreed…1yr1Y

Schools should teach about racial and gender studies should be taught in schools but with no bias and no attempt to change or form students opinions.

 @9KQ5WR5 from Nebraska  disagreed…1yr1Y

Families are shown to focus on their own beliefs. " Their way, or the highway." School is a place of learning. It should go beyond learning adding and subracting, vowels and nouns. There is a lot out there and there's no reason why a single child shouldn't know about it.

 @9KL9K7Z from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

Students should be educated about varying religions, but it should not bleed into curriculum. Additionally, no religious beliefs should be favored, forced, or prompted onto students.

 @9KLM8MRSocialist from Florida  agreed…1yr1Y

 @9KLPJ8N from North Carolina  disagreed…1yr1Y

religion shouldnt matter when someone is in school unless they are in a school for that said religion

 @9KLT3PVIndependent from North Carolina  agreed…1yr1Y

Understanding and basic knowledge of various religions is important for creating cultural respect in continuing education and into professionalism.

 @9KH2N6NRepublican from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

Religion provides a good background for morality and the US has a long history of Judeo Christian values that have been increasingly ignored to the detriment of modern society.

 @lizard42man from Michigan  disagreed…1yr1Y

There should be education regarding theology and the significance of religion to social studies, but this should be purely academic and there should be complete separation of church and state.

 @9KJZX22 from Wisconsin  disagreed…1yr1Y

Schools should teach that all and no religion is 100% okay and one is not more important than another. People shouldn't teach that "Christianity is the United States religion" when there are so many Americans who aren't Christians. It doesn't make them less American.

 @9KK2SMG from Connecticut  disagreed…1yr1Y

I think for the people who are religious, should be able to take classes that have religion more involved, but religion in education shouldn't be forced on all students.

 @9KDPKCD from Illinois  answered…1yr1Y

It shouldn't because everyone has there own choice.

 @9KMNXJ5 from Washington  disagreed…1yr1Y

everyone may have there own choices but that doesnt matter, to better society and to get rid of the bad is to teach religious, and the schooling nowadays teaches you nothing but garbage, at least if it taught the bible people could use that in there day to day life.

 @9KG2H35 from Utah  agreed…1yr1Y

Religion shouldn’t be incorporated but people shouldn’t be prevented from sharing their religious beliefs.

 @9KFZRDV from North Carolina  disagreed…1yr1Y

God affects so many peoples lives i think there should be a choice of classes for religion to keep spreading the word of god

 @9KDGZ7W from Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

Only to teach students about the different religions, it's important to know about them so we don't disrespect them.

 @9KFP2QF from North Carolina  agreed…1yr1Y

I think that religion should be taught because it's important to know others backgrounds and the history behind each religion.

 @9KFN9NR from New York  agreed…1yr1Y

Religion should not impact the methods of teaching in schools, only the subject of religion itself should be taught.

 @9KFNTR6Progressive from Colorado  agreed…1yr1Y

It’s important to treat others with respect no matter their religious beliefs, but religious views should never be forced on anyone, especially students and young children.

 @9KS2KS2 from Kentucky  answered…1yr1Y

I think religion should only be taught in a secular manner. Americans have the right to practice any religion they want and public schools teaching religion without secular intent would discriminate on people of other religions. Private schools should be able to teach religion though, because parents have to pay for their children to get in.

 @9KWW479 from South Carolina  agreed…1yr1Y

Yes, because of the separation between church and state, religion shouldn't be taught at public school, but because private schools aren't run by the governent they can teach religion.

 @9KWTXB3Peace and Freedom from California  disagreed…1yr1Y

I think teaching students about religion will help them decide what they want to believe in and what suits them instead of judge someone else belief and help them know more about someone else belief.

 @9KQTF7Z from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

I think, personally, Christianity should be taught throughout school, or at least shouldn't be banned from being taught. If we can teach about LGBTQ rights, we can teach about the church and its beliefs.

 @9KV38K6 from Michigan  agreed…1yr1Y

Kids shouldn't be taught to be gay, have colored hair and have pronouns that's kinda early for some toddlers

 @9KTZBBG from Illinois  disagreed…1yr1Y

There is supposed to be a separation of state and religion. Unless you are going to a private religious school, teachings of religion should stay out of school.

 @9KS3JDX from Pennsylvania  answered…1yr1Y

I dont think religion should be taught in schools, because people will likely have issues with it if they dont agree with the religion

 @9KVJ84T from California  disagreed…1yr1Y

Religion in school is good. You people would rather memorize the constitution than the gospel. It's sad.

 @mehjg  from Texas  disagreed…1yr1Y

First, it depends on the school; private schools with religious affiliation should be able to teach their religion. Parents can decide whether or not to send their children to a particular private school, and they know what they're getting into.
In public schools, children should be taught about religion without being taught to follow or not follow any specific religion, because religion is a very important part of human culture and history. This should be done as objectively and respectfully as possible.

 @9KPBF7SDemocrat from Florida  answered…1yr1Y

Education should focus on teaching people HOW to think; because then they can decide WHAT to think all on their own, and respect everyone else's right to do the same.

 @9KTV4JN from Minnesota  agreed…1yr1Y

To respect freedom of religion it’s necessary to give students information and let them make their own decisions about their beliefs.

 @9KTSYFYSocialist from California  agreed…1yr1Y

public education should be about teaching critical thinking and basic concepts and then be given class choices

 @9KJCTLMSocialistfrom Maine  answered…1yr1Y

Religion should play no role whatsoever in education.

 @9KKN8NT from Illinois  agreed…1yr1Y

Education, to whatever extent possible, should remain unbiased, or at least stick to what historical facts are known, and well understood. Religious opinions have no place in school.

 @9KKN6CX from Missouri  agreed…1yr1Y

Freedom of religion means no religion in education, but personal interest should be considered in pinpointing students' curriculum.

 @9KS6HBGPeace and Freedom from California  answered…1yr1Y

I feel like there shouldn't be any role of religion being practiced, only taught, and if so should include all religions or at least most of the major ones.

 @9KT6J67 from Virginia  disagreed…1yr1Y

I agree with all religions being recognized but I think that importance and interests would continue to increase with the optional practice of that religion.

 @9KT68HNagreed…1yr1Y

I don't think we should force religion on kids or tell them to follow those rules but teaching the history of religion and why these religions have those beliefs is a good idea just so they are knowledgeable about certain religions.

 @9KR9L4J from Washington  answered…1yr1Y

It's fine for private school shouldn't be barred in public

 @9KVTKG6 from Ohio  disagreed…1yr1Y

Religion shouldn't play a role in education because their are different religious beliefs and with all that will flip and flop students education

 @9KVSR5J from Michigan  agreed…1yr1Y

no one should be forced into a religion, specially in schools. if it's a private organization, with its own methods, then it's fine. but in a public school, the kids should be able to just learn about social and moral values.

 @9KKTJGZDemocrat from Washington  answered…1yr1Y

I believe religion should be talked about a very small amount in School, not a lot, but a little so people can learn about different religions and different points of view from people.

 @9KQY7HQ from California  agreed…1yr1Y

Religion should be taught from an objective standpoint in the basis of evolutionary psychology, but the teachings of religions as dogmas are not to be preached - only studied. If an education institution is to teach about religion, it must be from a historically objective view.

 @9KQTDB8 from Washington  disagreed…1yr1Y

Religion has been crucial throughout human history and continues to shape numerous current events. It must be talked about extensively.

 @9KX4D8KIndependent from Iowa  agreed…1yr1Y

 @9KGLFQG from California  answered…1yr1Y

Zero. Based off of the separation of church and state, zero. Religion (outside of cultural context) should play zero role in education.

 @9KPS5FY from Texas  disagreed…1yr1Y

Separation is not constitutional. I understand that government can’t dictate to religious beliefs, not that people with religious beliefs can’t be involved in government

 @9KJPFF8  from California  agreed…1yr1Y

Not everyone has the same religion, so rules created using tenets from one religion should not be applied to all people.
