No, but the government needs to lift restrictions on oil companies and pump more gas

 @93ZVWHP from Maryland answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, and federalize gas and oil

  @jwolfsg1590Constitution from California commented…2yrs2Y

Federalize = nationalize = communism

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas commented…6mos6MO

Yes, and that's a good thing; it guarantees access and ownership for everyone, instead of just a few private interests. All industries should be nationalized and owned by and for the public.

 @9HZDFNN from Missouri answered…3mos3MO

No, but use the MONEY to support our nation's highway systems and stop pi$$!ng it away on unsustainable pet projects like high speed rail

 @9HX7Q8N from New Jersey answered…4mos4MO

Yes, because gas should be affordable for those who need it. However, we should simultaneously be phasing out the use of gasoline for more sustainable options. Additionally, our gas tax doesn't determine the fate of our infrastructure. Our government can easily take from the near billions of dollars they spend on our military in order to aid failing road projects and to provide other much needed infrastructure.

 @9HSGSGP from New Jersey answered…4mos4MO

Only if it is replaced by either carbon tax or more ideally by a combination of tariffs on foreign oil and taxes on oil production and refinement

 @9HRLFR2Democrat from California answered…4mos4MO

Oil corps and barons are greedy scumbags. no need to tax and punish normal joe americans for corporate misdeeds. Focus on ditching oil and holding oilmen's feet to the fire instead.

 @mk  from Oregon answered…4mos4MO

That pays for road work. Instead, a tax should be levied on electric vehicles that are using the roads for free.

 @9HFGY5NRepublican  from Minnesota answered…5mos5MO

No it would increase inflation we should just open the pipeline so that the prices would go down naturally

 @9H5VH62 from North Carolina answered…5mos5MO

Yes, at least until prices decline. More should be done to transition consumers towards buying solely electric cars, but not in a way that causes individual hardship

 @9GX287XPeace and Freedom from Connecticut answered…5mos5MO

Yes, and permanently end it. The government also needs to lift restrictions on oil companies and pump less gas on things that don't require it

 @9LCV4QB from Washington answered…3wks3W

The federal government can keep their current gas tax rate. There should be a cap on what states can charge for gas tax!

 @9LC522FLibertarian  from Texas answered…3wks3W

Yes, permanently end it and the government needs to lift restrictions on oil companies and pump more gas.

  @9JXZQZRLibertarian  from North Carolina answered…2mos2MO

No, but the federal gasoline tax should be exclusively earmarked for the maintenance and development of federal roads, rather than being diverted into the general fund.

 @9K7G2ZNfrom Virgin Islands answered…2mos2MO

it should be decreased, but also a cap on all prices of fuel oil to ensure that the companies do not unfairly raise the prices to make more money and profits.

 @5Q8HYS6 from Michigan answered…2mos2MO

No, and we need to stop relying on oil from nations that are hostile to us, and allow America to develop it's oil production.

 @9JY7P9J from Delaware answered…2mos2MO

I think that the U.S. should use the oil and gases found in the country rather than paying for it from another country. It would be cheaper.

 @9JXX5TN from Colorado answered…2mos2MO

Yes, but only until prices decline, while still upholding the end goal of nationalizing the energy sector.

 @9JSF75K from Alaska answered…3mos3MO

I feel like if you had an electric car, your taxes should match the area you're in and the gas prices.

 @9JFLRXM from California answered…3mos3MO

Reduce restrictions to drill and produce US fissile fuels and not rely on foreign produced. Tax use of foreign produced.

 @9JF9QJYDemocrat from Tennessee answered…3mos3MO

We should lower it and use the money to promote more environmentally-friendly ways for transportation.

 @9JC633B from Florida answered…3mos3MO

There should only be a small tax on fuel for the maintenance of highways and railways that carry the fuel. The energy sector should be nationalized and fuel should remain cheap and highly accessible until infrastructure is changed in favor of free and efficient national and local transportation.

 @9J4BFZW from Virginia answered…3mos3MO

No, oil companies would just raise prices anyway in lieu of any tax. I’d rather be taxed than be gouged by another corporation

 @9HPHCZ6 from Texas answered…4mos4MO

Yes, but replace it with a tax that factors in vehicle weight and distance driven annually as those are the largest factors that contribute to road wear.

 @5Q8HYS6 from Michigan answered…6mos6MO

No, we need to stop relying on oil from nations that are hostile to us, and allow America to develop it's oil production.

 @9GL67TR from Florida answered…6mos6MO

No, this is how the government funds public roads and transportation and it should only be used for such.

 @9GKCSD3 from Maryland answered…6mos6MO

The gas tax needs to be suspended and the money previously collected from it should be used to investigate renewable energy

 @9GJYQSH from Florida answered…6mos6MO

The tax should only be used to assist in the funding of vehicle infrastructure and not for other political purposes and agendas. There should also be an equivalent infrastructure support tax for electric vehicle.

 @9FGPVDPDemocrat from Illinois answered…7mos7MO

No, and it should be increased to fund more investment into public transportation

 @9FDD7ST from Missouri answered…7mos7MO

We need to develop a new form of gasoline that is better for the environment But we also shouldn't punish the low income people for using gasoline when it is our only current option

 @9F9WCPXRepublican from Virginia answered…7mos7MO

Yes, but temporarily until prices of gas decline, and lift the restrictions on oil and gas companies and pump more gas.

 @9F9JRV8 from Virginia answered…7mos7MO

 @igeryuIndependent  from Kansas answered…8mos8MO

No, unless it is replaced with a more equitable tax, based on mileage, vehicle weight/class, and configuration
