No, "assault weopons" is a made up term that is a blanket statement that attacks any black gun, also the government dousn't sell guns to citizens so they can't "buy back" something they never had, as well as this is a massive violation of human rights.

An initial voluntary buyback with major incentive. Increase mental health and background checks. If rates of gun violence don't go down then make it mandatory if they do go down then leave it at the current level.
