No, the f35 program needs to be evaluated, and new orders need to be realistic to the current needs. The current air fleet needs priority when it comes to spending.

 @9TCHX55Libertarian from Ohio  answered…9mos9MO

No, but require future weapons research be paid by the corporations with possible reimbursement after delivery.

 @9RJB5TDLibertarian from Texas  answered…10mos10MO

No, but the government should enact a zero dollar budgeting system to keep large corporations in check from increasing costs unnecessarily

 @9NF9B4MRepublican from Iowa  answered…12mos12MO

Yes, but a less expensive alternative should be adopted. The US should maintain technological superiority and numerical parity in fighter aircraft with other nations, but bankrupting ourselves undermines our military strength.

  @LucidLibertarianLibertarian  from Oregon  answered…12mos12MO

Yes, until the nearly $2 trillion the DoD cannot account for is accounted for. Investigate and recover fraudulent use of DoD funds and use that to fund the F-35 and/or other technological improvements for military defense equipment

 @9LTKCDTRepublican from Kansas  answered…1yr1Y

No, the F-35 is a great substitute plane for every other fighter. Way too important compared to other military projects.

 @9LH6C43Republican from West Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

No, they need to cut the production amount in half and use some of the money gained to continue research on stealth technology and other types of military vehicles.

 @9L5S2WXLibertarian from Pennsylvania  answered…1yr1Y

No, but methods of reducing cost should be sought out, and older aircraft that are well maintained should not be retired and upgraded if possible instead.

 @9JVYTVLRepublican from Kansas  answered…1yr1Y

No, because other countries will continue to spend on their military. The best defense is a good offense.

 @9HZ9KZ8Republican from Ohio  answered…1yr1Y

No, even though it is not our most technologically advanced fighter it should still stay in production as it remains relevant and is useful.

 @9GVHL74Republican from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

The cost of making and upkeep is very high and studies have shown it to be infective compared to other military vehicles, but at the same time it's very strong on what it has to do

 @9GT42YTLibertarian from Massachusetts  answered…2yrs2Y

I think there can be other fighter jets produced that have some of the same abilities of the F-35 and are cheaper to make. This then allows for more to be made.

 @9GRT437Republican from Utah  answered…2yrs2Y

No, but it should redistribute money within military funding so it's not an extreme burden on the rest of the country.

 @9FRJ4JPLibertarian from Missouri  answered…2yrs2Y

No, and create incentives to increase competition among private companies which contract to produce weapons and equipment for the military.

 @9FJWX8PRepublican from New York  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, as the funds to produce these fighter planes to add to fully efficient fighter planes could benefit the project of upgrading to the 21st century Air Force One (2), which is projected to cost $4 billion

 @84ZWD6LLibertarian  from Pennsylvania  answered…2yrs2Y

No, but the costs and contracts need to be reviewed to eliminate waste, and future projects need to be closely monitored to prevent the same mistakes from happening again

 @MJStevens94Republican  from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

No, I do not believe in canceling production of the F-35. But with that being said, there is misinformation on the F-35 and other projects that one deems wasteful and inefficient. I would rather talk to current military experts and people on military procurement on the F-35 than listen to people who may have an ax to grind or think modern military technology is stupid and, therefore, argue for vehicles or planes procured with outdated tech instead.

No, but only if they publish an itemized quarterly record of actual expenses.

 @9D5Y385Republican from New Hampshire  answered…2yrs2Y

No, and continue to let countries in the program manufacture parts to help there own economy

 @9D4SDCBRepublican  from Tennessee  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, at $1.5 Trillion! There is no way it cost that much. This is the fraud, waste, and abuse of the military budget that needs to end.

If they can make a equally tolerable jet for cheaper then yes, but if its the best of the best then its kinda needed.

 @9V6L684Libertarian from Illinois  answered…8mos8MO

If it's for Israel no If it's for the Arab and Muslim countries that have the right to self defense against Israel then yeah

 @9FCB642Libertarian from New Jersey  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, there should be no government and thus this should be up to private companies

 @9DD79J2Republican from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9CCBZYDRepublican from Oklahoma  answered…2yrs2Y

No, and the government is currently over-regulating production and transfer of military weapons

 @9BWYHJYLibertarian from New York  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9BD9G9HRepublican from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, however, if this becomes too much of a finical issue the production should be stopped or put on hold.

No, but budget spending should have greater restrictions and cost to benefit analysis that can determine the need for such spending

 @93WW549Republican from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

No, the cost has gone down enough and capabilities become mature enough for it to be a worthwhile program

 @93GXYD8Republican from Illinois  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but future projects should be carefully monitored to keep costs down.

 @92VF3L8Libertarian from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, if the F-35 does not fulfill the needs of the military or there are better alternatives

 @92NZD4ZRepublican from Tennessee  answered…3yrs3Y

 @92DY85LRepublican from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

If they are necessary and are need and are properly funded it could be good to have hem but if they aren’t needed then no. I am unsure

 @92BWFPTLibertarian from Ohio  answered…3yrs3Y

The government should produce the best weapons available for our military

 @929VRQDRepublican from West Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

No, the F-35 is an excellent aircraft and will give the U.S. an edge against its opponents, however legacy fighters should still be fielded to fill roles the F-35 cannot

 @8ZPVJGWRepublican from West Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZJTTB2Libertarian from Maryland  answered…3yrs3Y

I don't think we should stop productions but I think we should only use them as a last resort..

 @8ZF3SPXRepublican from Ohio  answered…3yrs3Y

they should only produce some many then see if they should carry out with making more after more test flights and things.

 @8Z97VF8Republican from New Jersey  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, focus on the development of newer and more cost effective fighters

 @8YY7Q7MRepublican from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

yes and no; keep producing if there is a demand from US and its Allies, and stop if no longer needed.

 @8YLS5GTRepublican from Oklahoma  answered…3yrs3Y

yes, they are outdated. Use these for training and last resort and upgrade to something newer.

 @8YJLNBLRepublican from Maine  answered…3yrs3Y

No However the manufacturer needs to reimburse for cost overruns and delays

 @84ZWD6LLibertarian from Pennsylvania  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8XD4H57Libertarian from Pennsylvania  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but the government should not replace all roles with the F-35. Many legacy aircraft are cheaper to build and operate.

 @8X883ZZRepublican from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

Not as long as the system is delivered on time and meets all specifications. All government contracts should be audited regularly to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse.

No, the F-35 fighter is intended to perform highly technological modern combat tasks against a near-peer threat such as China and Russia, both of whom are also developing their own fighters meant to conduct similar high-tech modern combat tasks. The F-35 is the first American fighter whose development has been in the era of the internet, as such much of the criticism against it is due to it's high cost while it's worth as a war-fighting aircraft is misunderstood or even outright ignored, partly due to the classified nature of it's technology. The F-35 should continue being produced as it has the potential to greatly ensure the air superiority of America and her allies.

 @8WS2J4HRepublican from California  answered…4yrs4Y

They are already being produced so it would be a waste to stop production now

 @8WHL5FGRepublican from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8W9LS56Republican from Utah  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, however they need to find a way for the planes to last at least 90 years or cut the costs

 @8W5PTR2Libertarian from Wisconsin  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but reduce the number of planes so that the cost would not be so hefty.

 @8TQ2NP2Libertarian from Maine  answered…4yrs4Y

No, and we should develop a 6th generation fighter rapidly to remain air superiority over China.

 @8TLDMVPLibertarian from Ohio  answered…4yrs4Y

No, this is a valuable resource, powerful military weapons are a necessary evil
