The Dakota Access pipeline is a 1,172 mile oil pipeline that stretches through North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and southern Illinois. The pipeline would allow oil companies to transport crude oil from North Dakota to oil refineries along the Eastern Seaboard. The pipeline’s construction was permitted by the participating state governments under eminent domain. Opponents of the pipeline (including several Native American tribes, including the Meskwaki and Sioux tribal nations) argue that the pipeline has the potential to pollute their water supply and destroy Native American burial sites. Proponents argue that the pipeline is necessary for the U.S. to achieve energy independence.

Due to my opposition of future oil projects and the issues it could cause for the nearby residents I would say I am not a fan
@B3P4HHL3mos3MO
The government should not be able to take acquired land and reroute it away from Native American land.
@B22LD576mos6MO
yes but make sure it made safely with minimal effects to the environment and when land is acquired offer cash compensations to thoses affected until the job is done.
@9W4V895Women’s Equality8mos8MO
No, but we should use government funding to try to build up strength/ decrease the possibility of this happening.
@9TLHH3LIndependent 9mos9MO
Environmental concerns need to take priority. No damage to water, wildlife, and land should be allowed.
@9THSD9Z9mos9MO
The pipeline IS completed. It is was never actually approved. It currently operates illegally. Just another middle finger to the Native Americans.
@9SRJWL39mos9MO
No, but also reroute away from Native lands and also not to use eminent domain run the pipeline underground
Depends, as long as they know there won't be problems with it, then they could keep it. It also provides a lot of profit.
@9DRX2KK2yrs2Y
I don't have a standing point in this
@9DJYDXS2yrs2Y
not enough knowledge about it
@9DGP2HJ2yrs2Y
never knew abt such thing
@9DG3LCS2yrs2Y
Yes, and the government should take the environment and Native American tribes into account as well.
@9DFJHG22yrs2Y
No, but reduce the purchasing capability of eminent domain
@8LDZ49X5yrs5Y
No, but they shouldn't be able to use eminent domain; they must seek the proper permission of the landowners & state authorities. If necessary, reroute it away from Native American land and instead route it through areas where it would have less of an impact on the environment. Also, drastically increase safety initiatives to properly maintain the pipeline and increase fines the company must pay in the event of an accident.
@96GWB4M3yrs3Y
Yes, because there is already a pipeline; it would simply allow more use of current disappearing resources. Instead, incentivize private companies to create renewable power.
@93TGW6Y3yrs3Y
Yes, the environmental disregard for Native American land is just another example of our long history of mistreatment of our indigenous peoples
@92PVHJW3yrs3Y
Mo, but reroute the pipeline away from Native American land and drastically increase the amount of fines the company must pay in the event of an accident
@92JZGXZ3yrs3Y
No, but reroute it away from Native American land and drastically increase the amount of fines the company must pay in the event of an accident
@8ZV5R8FRepublican3yrs3Y
No, but it must be routed away from Native American land, and fines the company must pay in case of an accident.
@8YDHHS93yrs3Y
Yes, as long as it is not harming the environment.
@8Y8JDRQ3yrs3Y
No, but to safely change their ways to avoid climatic accidents.
@8XSLF883yrs3Y
no but make sure they aren’t hurting anyone else’s land in the process if so take another direction and reroute if an accident happens they should pay for it
@8XMG3SQ4yrs4Y
No, but abolish eminent domain
@8XBXSK34yrs4Y
it all depends on if they are getting paid for it and or if its helping to better the world and where we live.
@8X4PZ644yrs4Y
If the native and people want it and it don’t hurt people or the environment than they could do it.
@8TYVHBPProgressive4yrs4Y
Yes, this is doing damage to wildlife and our environment and is also harming Native American land.
@8SXVDX24yrs4Y
@8RVHZPF4yrs4Y
No, it is already in place and contracted. the stoppage disturbs many many people and livelihoods and will suffer hardship. to stop it and say "go get a job in the green energy field" with out having those jobs to replace is insane. The Native American land, should have been rerouted, replaced or compensated in a mutual agreement prior to start. to change what has already started is such a waste of money for the government and other business.
@8QNBS3GLibertarian4yrs4Y
If people did not consent to land being taken and it can polute people's land, perhaps yes
@8PY25GJ4yrs4Y
Yes, it could pollute the land.
@8PJJQSTRepublican5yrs5Y
@8LZ7V565yrs5Y
No, But it should transport water instead of oil to help distribute flood water to drought areas if that is possible
@8JT7VXL5yrs5Y
It should be phased out over time. Workers should be repurposed.
@8DRKP4K5yrs5Y
No, only if they reroute around the Natives land, unless by THIER council vote, they choose to have it go through their land, then they should reap some benefits from it. Also the government should never aquire land by eminent domain.
@8DRGS9TLibertarian5yrs5Y
Yes, it should stop and eminent domain should never be used for things like pipelines, only for things like National Parks or preservation of locations with historic significance.
@8CW4H6W5yrs5Y
No, cut it while we’re ahead of ourselves
@8CDZZ9L5yrs5Y
Yes, that land is bequeathed to the natives of that region, and should not have been interfered with.
Yes but allow tax breaks or help provide more refineries so it doesn’t need to be piped
@8YFFTQD3yrs3Y
Reroute the pipeline from Native Lands, AND pay the reparations for the damages done.
@8XQP47T3yrs3Y
No but make sure it’s built right and secured
@8X9VRD44yrs4Y
People should try to find another way to do so, to not harm the native american tribes.
@8RJSRSB4yrs4Y
No, but reroute away from Native American land, increase the amount of fines to be paid in the even of an accident, and require a very large bond, to be increased with the amount of oil piped to be put up to ensure those fines would be paid.
@8GK9GNM5yrs5Y
No, they should reroute the pipeline away from Native American land, and build oil refineries in the Midwest so the oil doesn't have to be piped so far away.
No, but drastically increase the amount of fines the company must pay in the event of an accident and make sure the route is away from Native land
Do not know what this is
Yes, and stop constructing anything on Native American land without consulting them first
@9Q5PCYM11mos11MO
No, as long as the pipeline is exclusive to the United States and is diverted away from the sovereign nations that are Native American land.
@8X9QB7W4yrs4Y
Government should not be placing further risks on Native American groups and the pipeline could cause detrimental damage to our environment and resources
