Yes, but only large businesses of 100+ employees have to pay. Smaller businesses should be required to offer the leave with government assistance in the form of a workman’s comp type program paid by taxes where small businesses pay less.

 @9QQH2W9 from Florida  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but only with companies with 100 plus employees, it is also a case by case basis in many regards

 @9N7D93N from Florida  answered…1yr1Y

No, there should be a system in place to support caregivers and new parents while they are on family leave.

 @9LB8QBY from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

It should not be required that a company gives this service but should be required to mention the option during negotiations of contracts.

 @9F8Q47YIndependent from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

Sick leave and maternity leave should be paid for part time and full time employees!

 @9D4R2MD from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

 @99VCHDG from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

maybe. in a perfect world that would be ideal, although every job and individual are different.

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas  commented…3yrs3Y

Doesn't even need to be a perfect world; this is pretty standard in nearly every other developed nation in the world. There is no societal downside to instituting nationally guaranteed paid leave. It's purely a policy choice.

 @9CMN924 from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

That may depend. Big corporations certainly should. Not all small business can afford to do that.

 @9B5BV9ZConstitution from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

If this type of paid leave is expected, perhaps it can be treated like weekly deduction into an account that a person uses. The problem is that individuals want FREE time off and a company must take money from someone somewhere in order to pay for this.

 @96D9F83 from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

 @968CDRM from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but they should only be paid if they have a important and reasonable reason for there leave.

 @9443R44 from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but they should be eligible to collect unemoyment which the employer must pay into anyway.

 @93XFCGN from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

No, the Government should make it a universal right for citizens to be covered for Family leave, for both births and/or family illness, and allow for covered pay that a company would preemptively pay into (similar to unemployment benefit tax), without the risk of job loss or company reprimands.

 @92DY85LRepublican from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes for during a new born child because the woman isn’t fooling around just skipping work she is working on her raising her child. During sickness it would depend on how sick the person is and their circumstances.

 @8ZXZXYMDemocrat from Florida  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only for maternity leave and for sickness that can be proven, not just a random headache.

Only four companies that have 100 + employees as well as the government should pay for these subsidiaries

 @8YC5YGYGreen from Florida  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, the lack of paid sick leave is unfair to working men and women but if they take advantage of it they should not get paid leave.

 @8X9DHD7 from Florida  answered…4yrs4Y

I believe that there should be paid lave for people that are sick. Pregnant women, people who are injured or sick, with proof should still have paid leave. There must be proof so that people don't take advantage of that system.

 @8XBHDRW from Florida  answered…4yrs4Y

There should be paid maternity leave but if the individual has proof of pregnancy, injury or sickness. There are individuals who can abuse the use of this benefits. There needs to be stricter policies to give leave to the ones that need it the most.

 @8QBPR8V from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8Q7877NIndependent from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

A period of two weeks should be allowed for individuals in those circumstances, but from there businesses would need to implement their own policies on a case by case basis.

Private Business should decide the amount of incentives they offer to employees, but it should be encouraged at the federal level.

 @8KCZDT7 from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, for maternity and paternity leave as well as for sick family members in a terminal condition.

 @8HMQ4ZH from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but company size and industry should determine if paid by business or federally. Or it should be a mutual divide

 @8HBZHD5 from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but have certain restrictions need to be in place to ensure it does not impact smaller businesses and the paid leave is not abused.

 @8FK4D5G from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

no but employees should be able to take a unpaid leave and have a job to return to

 @8CBZ9CT from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but you need proof of a sick family member and can only have a certain number of days off,

 @8C7JC3C from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but only for large companies and for employees who've been with the company at least 2 years. The rest should be left up to the companies to decide how they want to attract and retain quality employees.

 @9CGS28V from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9CG9TXSRepublican from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, for at least 12 weeks. FMLA benefits should protect their jobs thereafter.

 @9BXCHQB from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

In some cases, yes. Depending on their time at the company and some other aspects. Especially if it is a large corporation that can easlily afford to do that.

 @9B5KWPN from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, during child birth and early stages of childhood, and sickness of the worker not so much when family member is sick

 @982VPFFIndependent from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but in the case of family members being sick the closeness of the member needs to be called into question before paid leave can be obtained.

 @97VGNH7 from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, I think that both paid sick leave and paid maternity leave are both important; however, maternity leave, since it is a personal choice, should be limited to two pregnancies. Any additional pregnancies should be the responsibility of the parent.

 @8FLBTKD from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

yes for maternity leave but only for sick leave if you can physically see them sick and get the diagnoses back after they recover so if they lie it will be taken out of their paycheck

 @3H2HJRD from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

With in reason. This new thing of giving men 6 months time off for the birth of a child is ridiculous. He is not going to feed it or do what the mother does. Getting sick of this Nanny State Mentality, Participation Trophies,we are becoming a Nation of Wimps and Whiners. Time to grow up and put on you big boy/girl pants and deal with it!

 @8PWFF8K from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y
