Proponents argue that unification could increase global influence, simplify trade and defense coordination, and create economic efficiencies. Opponents argue that it would eliminate Canadian sovereignty, disrupt established institutions, and undermine the cultural and political independence of both nations.

@B4HCXB5Libertarian6mos6MO
were very close, speak the same langueange. sure national security. it just makes sense that they join the US
@B482WQP7mos7MO
That's up to Canada if they want to be apart of the U.S government. And if that was the case, grant U.S Citizenship to all Canadians.
@B47N5YWProgressive7mos7MO
I think Canadians are cool, and they can do whatever they want. Who cares if they join us, what's the point?
@B47X42MLibertarian7mos7MO
If they want to, yes. I think that would be awesome if they say yes, but that is their choice and they do not have to.
@B48VXGN6mos6MO
They are their own country and shouldn't even be considered to join the US because it's not our decision it's theirs.
That is not up for America as a whole to decide. It should be an agreed equal decision between the American government and Canadian government.
@B48LSG46mos6MO
No, but Canada needs to be held accountable for all of the easy trade they have received from the U.S.
@B7HDJQJ6 days6D
no cause we are separated for a reason it could lead to problems such as what would we do for presidents and sources
@B7FGZBM1wk1W
No, but allow Canadians to freely live and work in the US and vice versa through a Schengen-style border agreement
@B7CMZJS2wks2W
Yes, province by province, if a province successfully secedes with the intent of joining the US and Congress votes them in, but I believe this is extraordinarily unlikely.
@B785LZF3wks3W
yes, only if western Canada decides to separate from main Canada and declare independence or asks to become states.
@ThunderRoseIndependent 3wks3W
Only if the United States Government can provide a level of care equal to or better than the level of care that the Canadian populace currently has. I would like the people of Earth to eventually have a one-world government that can better satisfy the needs of the people, including those of Americans and Canadians, than it does today.
@B6M5KK52mos2MO
If majorities of particular provinces vote to secede and seek incorporation into the US their views should be given serious consideration
@B6TKQDG 1mo1MO
Yes as long as we can keep the land and get rid of the Canadians who don't value American traditions and cultural values.
@B6HKN7M2mos2MO
Only if Canada votes to join the U.S. with a 3/4 majority and should still be allowed to express their national identity.
@B63CCDW3mos3MO
Yes if a republican is the president, problem is though if Canada becomes apart of the US it might mean more blue states sadly.
@B5YFK3GIndependent3mos3MO
Maybe in the future, this is up to the people of Canada. If they want to join the U.S then they should join but if that is not in the interests of Canada and its people then they should continue as their own country.
@B5XCPM9 3mos3MO
No, they are their own country with their own rights and are already under the UK. That would cause issues with the UK and other countries under it like Australia or something. And that would not make us any different than Russia attacking Ukraine.
@95CHPZM 3mos3MO
If Canadians are not interested, then no. There is no gain for Americans or Canadians for the US annexing Canada other than achieving imperialist fantasies.
@B5S6N8X4mos4MO
If a territory votes to join the United States than it should be admitted to the Union, following the same procedures as States in history have, updated if needed.
@B4K26FG 4mos4MO
We should integrate economically with Canada, the U.S. and Canadian markets should be free and we should strive to aline on foreign and domestic policy
@B5L4Y525mos5MO
I would Canada join the the United States under the United Federation of Earth or something like that
@harvey7849 5mos5MO
No, but if there is a circumstance wherein the populations of both the U.S. and Canada overwhelming favor a merger, I would not see any reason to prevent it.
@B5JQ2Z4Republican5mos5MO
If a province wishes to split from Canada, America should be ready to welcome them at any time if need be
@HelcovichEmireRepublican 6mos6MO
No, but trade and travel with them should be free of tariffs or regulations, and we should mine in Canada for natural resources
@Zoods6mos6MO
Yes, but only if given benefits and each province becomes its own state, it would have to be negotiated properly and the USA should be given a new name to maintain Canada’s name
@B4QJ44MRepublican6mos6MO
If there is an interest from the Canadian people to become part of the United States, they should be allowed to vote on the issue through a province-level referendum rather than through a national election.
@B4MVQKSRepublican 6mos6MO
We should aquire places like alberta and their northern territories for their resources, but taking all of Canada is a terrible idea
@B4JLPQQ6mos6MO
Not unless there is total rebalancing of both government styles, one that would incorporate both countries' interests and ideals.
@B49FBDK6mos6MO
If they were offered a fair referendum, and the result showed an overwhelming majority wanted union with the United States yes
@B49CCFRPeace and Freedom6mos6MO
It doesnt matter I'm not like for or against it like if it happens i'd be fine with it but if it didnt i wasn't mind still
@B5HPLF25mos5MO
We should give Alaska to Canada in exchange for allowing the U.S. to move our border boundary further north (meaning that parts of Southern Canada would go to the U.S. but Canada will still retain sovereignty)
@B554HQR5mos5MO
Honestly its a hard choice because most of our goods come from Canada and we wouldnt have to import with high tariffs but it'll become its own BIG state and who knows how that'll go
@B549B3C5mos5MO
Canada is a separate nation and assimilating it into America wouldn’t add anything it would be useless
@Lex6mos6MO
Canada should not become the 51st state because it would mean sacrificing its sovereignty, economy, and self-governance. Joining the U.S. would put Canada under Washington’s control, risking policies that don’t align with its best interests.
There's no reason for them too. They're already their own separate countries and if one party does NOT want to merge then they shouldn't.
@B48LMQF6mos6MO
I would support a Compact of Free Association or a European Union-style agreement, as long as they were ok with it.
no both, all countries should be disbanded in order to pursue a more inviting system and to try something new
@B48JQ6R6mos6MO
Only if they choose to democratically by overwhelming (2/3 or more) popular vote, join as states, and all constituents are immediately granted citizenship.
@B47VDG37mos7MO
I think everyone has a right, but I do not think I should. Initially, it's a different place, and I do not think I should.
@B48QWSM6mos6MO
Yes, but only if Canada and Canadians themselves want to join our union, or either we make a union with Canada, making a new country. But this would be a good choice in the future.
@8FPLGKDIndependent 7mos7MO
Not at this time. I would be open to the idea of such a marriage if Canadians wanted it as well, but they overwhelmingly do not.
@B47VLC47mos7MO
I think it would be beneficial for both countries but i don't think they should be forced to join the US against their will.
@B47GCDQ7mos7MO
At the current moment, Canada and the Unitied States are two soveirgn nations that have very close ties. At any point, should Canada offer the idea of a union, or would propose the idea of joining the US, I would welcome them in open arms. When it comes to invasion, however, I'm more mixed on that, because Canada is a soveirgn nation, and invading them seems prepostrous, stupid, and unamericain.
@B486VBB7mos7MO
I don't really think it matters too much. It would help the economy and make our/their country stronger but we will be fine if they don't want to join and I don't think that we should waste time, money, and resources trying to force them to be a part of the US
@B47V8M4Peace and Freedom7mos7MO
I mean it would be helpful with the free hospital, but America would make it not free, but we could use some of their stuff though.
@Dry550Independent 7mos7MO
No, Canada is a country, not a state, to say that “unification could increase global influence etc.” is completely ludicrous to suggest, it’ll only piss off Canadians
@B47QW427mos7MO
I'm mixed about it, a part of me wants more US territory but the other part of me is not ok with it because I don't want to start a battle or even a war with the Canadian government. We are spending too much already right now than we are making and the CURRENT world ISSUES right now that we need to prioritize on focusing on that right now than obtaining more territory.
@B47CHNC7mos7MO
I think it would benefit canada but it would look weird to add it as a 51st state or split canada into states
@B47T5S37mos7MO
Canada should be granted full statehood if they chose to join; 77% said that Canada should have the right to decide for themselves whether to join the U.S. or not and 5% said that it should be by economic force
@B47M9BKRepublican7mos7MO
If Canadian Provinces wish to succeed and request to join the United States, we should allow them to without question. But we should not take it by force.
No, only if Canada freely and overwhelmingly chooses to join, free of any extortion from the United States
@B5CH2XL5mos5MO
No, Canada is a sovereign nation. Also, taking on Canada’s debt/problems/people/politics would just be a hassle.
@B4833ZV7mos7MO
Absolutely not. Canada is an important ally and trading partner. This suggestion is insulting and a stupid distraction from important issues.
@B49KX2CRepublican6mos6MO
yes because Canada has one of the most untouched natural resources in the world and 3 of Canada states want to join the USA and one wants independence
@B497GC56mos6MO
This is all up to the people and government of Canada, if they agree then great, if they don’t, we should honor their decision and leave them alone. They are a massive ally after all, they are practically our brothers.
