If democracy is 'rule by the people,' what do you think should be done about those who choose not to participate in the political process?

 @Name-IrrelevantConstitution  from West Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

The purpose of democracy is to ensure the rights of common people. If a common person chooses not to participate, that's within their rights. Let them sit it out. Part of "rule by the people" involves allowing the people to abstain from ruling, just as our elected officials can abstain from voting.

The whole point of a Democracy is to ensure the rights on the common people, if the common person has decided they do not want to participate than it is well within there personal rights according to our democracy to abstain from ruling.
