What could be the consequences of remaining silent when witnessing an act of discrimination in school or your community?

 @9J38XLP from California  answered…1yr1Y

Those who Remain silent should be charged with any minor punishment (not jail time)

 @9J4TCLNIndependent from Michigan  disagreed…1yr1Y

not clear on what is minor punishment
witness should have the choice to testify/report of their own free will

 @9S8JKPHfrom Maine  answered…11mos11MO

Community service and/or fines, unless the act resulted in injury of a party, in which case a mor severe consequence would be appropriate.

freedom of speech, but i think its wrong to just be hurtful to someone because of their race or sexual orientation.

What personal experiences have shaped your understanding of discrimination and its impact on individuals?

 @9J7KWFD from Arizona  answered…1yr1Y

Discrimination is bad and as a minority it can impact people. It doesn't impact me because I don't care but people who do have a right to be a bit angry.

 @9J7G453 from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

I find it wrong to go after someone just because of their religion and if you disagree with someones beliefs just keep it to yourself because i feel like attacking someone over their religion causes people to be scared to be themselves

 @9J7FX64 from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

 @9J7K3XJDemocrat from Kansas  answered…1yr1Y

Discrimination is not only unconstitutional but it severely impacts the mental health of the group/person being discriminated against. I have witnessed people with emotional trauma due to being discriminated against.

How does it feel to be the target of a stereotype, and what are the dangers of such generalizations?

 @9J39LFZ from Oregon  answered…1yr1Y

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

Why do you think some people might resist learning about the experiences of groups different from their own?

 @9J7HC8C from Georgia  answered…1yr1Y

People don’t want to feel guilty about what the people of the past have done but learning about these experiences is the first way to prevent them from happening again

 @9J9F44M from Arizona  agreed…1yr1Y

I agree that learning the experience of the other side can be important, one other hand I see, people should feel guilt from the others past experiences as it can give more of a better connection, thus giving more respect for the other side

 @9J8FB4P from Texas  agreed…1yr1Y

A major purpose of history is to learn what did not work in the past and to learn from the mistakes of our ancestors. If we choose to ignore some parts of history then those mistakes are bound to happen again in the present/future. We should not be ashamed of the shortcomings of our ancestors but instead, be proud that our country has evolved and conditions are much better compared to how they were back then.

What are the dangers of conspiracy theories that target specific ethnic or religious groups like Jews?

 @9SNFDVCPeace and Freedom from California  answered…10mos10MO

It could cause a lot of unnecessary backlash towards that group even when they did nothing wrong. It's similar to spreading rumors about a person in school, rumors and conspiracies can ruin lives.

 @9RTMB5Q from Guam  answered…11mos11MO

Pretty broad question really, some "Conspiracies" are true, some are made in hate, the same with anything left in such a broad category with the power of the world criticizing them just as all are the same by lying about it, the one to blame are the people that lie about the truth

 @9RTMV9G from Pennsylvania  answered…11mos11MO

 @9RTKD7L from Arizona  answered…11mos11MO

Many call them conspiracy theories. Some may end up being true, but most are hateful rhetoric or ridiculous stereotyping. Neither should be allowed, and neither should be heeded. Otherwise, you get groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

How would you feel if you were judged and discriminated against simply because of your cultural or religious background?

 @9H93DZDanswered…2yrs2Y

I would feel violated, as I came to pave my own lane and path however there are people that are disturbed because of my presence bringing my culture within this nation.

 @9H92V67 from Kansas  answered…2yrs2Y

How do myths and misinformation about a community, like Jews, get started, and what can we do to correct them?

 @9J39C4MWomen’s Equalityanswered…1yr1Y

they can easily be started when something wrong or bad happens, and there's a need to point the blame or shift the stress onto other things. this can be avoided by just having common sense and good morality/electing good leaders.

 @9J397DK from Iowa  answered…1yr1Y

Punish news sources no matter if trash or not on the misinformation and make them issue public apologies.

Can a society truly prosper if it's built on the exclusion or mistreatment of a group of people based on their ethnicity?

 @9H99JLH answered…2yrs2Y

There are a multitude of methods in which a society may be nurtured, and that nurturing can be achieved without the maltreatment of individuals based on their appearance or habits (unless it could be "wrong"). Rather, a society should notice the flaws of each group while also propelling each group forward, especially to its citizens.

 @9H96Q8W from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

No, it cannot as it creates lots of protesting harming civilian lives, more spending on damages and police equipment, and overall puts a bad image on the country.

 @9H97RXQ from California  answered…2yrs2Y

No it cannot, it will never truly move beyond that and to really fix it we’d need to abolish everything and start again

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

How does bullying or discrimination against any group, such as Jews, affect the overall school environment and student relationships?

 @9HLDMJGSocialist from Utah  answered…2yrs2Y

Bullying against any minority perpetuates decades of abuse that these communities experience, and worsens the school environment overall. Any targeted attack against a vulnerable group in a public space that is based on racist, sexist, or otherwise bigoted dogma does not serve to benefit our society

Yes, because it makes me realize how fortunate some are more than others just because of their race and or what they believe in. It also makes me want to do something to make a change because everyone in the world should be equal and treated the same under no circumstances

Is it ever justified to blame an entire ethnic or religious community for the problems faced by a society?

 @9H3Q4LB from North Dakota  answered…2yrs2Y

No, because they got their own problems to deal with. We really don't need a mini milita of wanna-be Nazis ready to beat someone with a star of David on them.

How does it affect your view of fairness in society when you see one group being treated differently?

 @9J8KRDRRepublican from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

Seeing one group mistreated in comparison to other groups makes me question the fairness and genuineness of this country. It is 2024, you would think the Declaration of Independence should have sunk in by now.

 @Name-IrrelevantConstitution  from West Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

My view of society is already at an all-time low. Seeing this sort of behavior doesn't surprise me, but it does continue to lower my trust in humanity.

What similarities do you see between anti-Semitism and other types of discrimination, and how can we tackle them universally?

 @9J87XY9 from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

As a Romani Bohemian that experiences discrimination and had a grandfather who dealt with racism as a “Gypsy,” during the same area/times that the Jews were discriminated, we should increase self-awareness in other peoples. I am discriminated against in college by my peers and stereotyped. Being properly educated on people groups, race and ethnicity should be a bare minimum.
