It doesn’t matter if you have 2 dads or 2 moms or a mom and a dad, if you care for your child and love them you should be able to adopt or have children.

 @9FMHF6S from Virginia  agreed…2yrs2Y

I wholeheartedly agree. A strong loving influence from parents can be there regardless of gender identity; we should focus on making sure kids up for adoption get good parents, not that they get straight cis parents.

 @9FLMKTN from South Carolina  disagreed…2yrs2Y

The LGBTQIA+ community has the right to work for a family as much as straight couples do. If they pass the same background requirements as a straight couple, nothing should prevent them from finding their family and giving homes to children struggling in the system.

 @9FLVVWF from Idaho  disagreed…2yrs2Y

If a couple of any kind goes through the adoption process, the screening and requirements are already incredibly extensive. If those channels determine the family is a good fit for adoption, then there is no reason they should be denied that.

 @9FN6ZKS from California  disagreed…2yrs2Y

As long as a couple holds the same eligibility standards as any other couple, they're sexuality is not going to influence their ability to raise a child.

 @9FLMFB4 from South Carolina  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Gay couples have the same abilities as straight couples and are just as fit to parent children. Just as straight parents will not force sexuality onto their children, the same is true for queer parents.

 @9FPK7D6Republican from Ohio  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Gay couples are just as capable as normal couples of adopting children and if a child needs a home with loving parents why deny them just because their parents were Gay

 @9FNY4PM from Delaware  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Gay people are just the same as straight people and as long as they are good people and this is proven, gay or straight should be able to adopt children who are in need of a loving home.

 @9FLGN65 from Nebraska  disagreed…2yrs2Y

There is no difference to the raising of a child from gay couples than straight ones. All that matters is that the kid is happy and healthy, it shouldn’t matter who the parents love.

 @9FL4L4W from South Carolina  disagreed…2yrs2Y

It doesn't matter if a kid has two moms or two dads as long as they love the kid and take care of them like they should.

 @9FLTH78 from Utah  disagreed…2yrs2Y

The most common response to this issue that I hear is that "a child NEEDS a mom and a dad" whether they justify it by what their religion says, which with the existence of other religions, forcing ones beliefs on others and on politics is wrong and unfair to others, or they try and justify it through biology which they aren't educated on because there are plenty of examples of same sex couples in nature my favorite example being emperor penguins who literally adopt and raise abandoned eggs.

 @9FLSG8WDemocrat from South Carolina  disagreed…2yrs2Y

They are humans want to be parents like straight couples who want to adopt so gay couples should be able to adopt.

 @9FLK9FT from North Carolina  disagreed…2yrs2Y

There is no reason why an LGBT couple should not be able to adopt their lifestyle will not affect the child

 @9FKMNGRWomen’s Equality from Illinois  disagreed…2yrs2Y

gay couples should be able to adopt children because everyone should have the same right to have a child.

 @9FL3YYJ from Connecticut  disagreed…2yrs2Y

the same way that anyone should be able to adopt , gay couples should be able to because they are just like everyone else

 @9FLVRJMdisagreed…2yrs2Y

Gay couples can be as healthy or as unhealthy as straight relationships, and can handle a child to the same capabilities.

 @9FPC2JJ from Missouri  disagreed…2yrs2Y

What is so different between a "traditional" nuclear family and a same-gender couple? Both are capable of

 @9FLP3PZ from Nebraska  disagreed…2yrs2Y

The people who say this tend to be of the belief that being gay is an inherently sexual feeling, and that the existence of gay folk is detrimental to children. This is entirely untrue. Being gay is not any more sexual than being straight, and I do not believe that gay couples would be any worse at raising children than straight couples.

 @9FLKLTK from North Carolina  disagreed…2yrs2Y

If your argument is stereotypes such as what is, "natural," look at everywhere in society. Cars are not "natural," businesses are not "natural," almost everything in our modern world is not so to say natural because we want to better our lives and the natural is not perfect, but we want it to be.

 @9GJBHPZ from New York  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Every child deserves a secure roof over their head. This argument completely disregards the homeless child. Denying such a simple thing, you are contributing to the rise in teen homelessness just because the thought of them being raised by parents who are a part of the LGBTQ+ community irritates you.

 @9GHR6DSRepublican from Illinois  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Gay couples have the same rights as every other US citizen. There is absolutely no reason why any couple that isn't heterosexual should be denied the right to start a family.

 @9GNSQCFDemocrat from Michigan  disagreed…2yrs2Y

They are the same as you and me. They are perfectly capable of raising a mentally and physically healthly child.

 @9LQF8DDLibertarian from Oregon  disagreed…1yr1Y

same argument. back off government. your sexuality does not impact how good of a parent you are and straight couples can be very abusive.

 @9NJMHLDfrom Illinois  disagreed…1yr1Y

It is not for the government to decide who is and isn't qualified to adopt based on gender. If two people, who are both willing and prove to be capable, want to adopt a child they should face no restrictions.

 @9LTTPFDRepublicandisagreed…1yr1Y

Just because they dont identify with their correct gender does not mean that they cant adopt a child

 @9L264NK from Illinois  disagreed…1yr1Y

It should be a human right to adopt children. As long as you have financial stability and the right mindset there's no reason you shouldn't be able to. Animals adopt abandoned babies constantly.

 @9HW68SNPeace and Freedom from Pennsylvania  disagreed…2yrs2Y

I think they should. It's not that big of a deal. It's a free country. They're still human with different opinions in their romantic life.

 @9HVGGB5 from Florida  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Marriage is between a man and a woman: only men and women should be able to adopt. LGBTQ+ couples wouldn’t be able to provide a good enough life for the child.

 @9HT9WG7Democratfrom Kansas  disagreed…2yrs2Y

But there is proof that Children who are living the same quality of lives as children in hetero sexual home's, there is no difference whatsoever between a heterosexuals' couples and homosexual couples.

 @9HRMGRS from Georgia  disagreed…2yrs2Y

We have a foster care system that has reached critical levels of children without permanent homes. Allowing gay couples to be

 @9HPG9NY from Michigan  disagreed…2yrs2Y

There is currently no reputable statistical measure that suggests LGBT or non-heterosexual adoptive parents are inferior to heterosexual parents (per 2004 American Psychological Association findings), and there are still plenty of children that would benefit from an adoptive home instead of foster systems or orphanages.

 @9F6Y9H9Democrat from Texas  disagreed…2yrs2Y

There shouldn't be a requirement based on the biological sex of the parents to raise a child as long as the parents are responsible and dependable people.

 @9F6SNY5 from Pennsylvania  disagreed…2yrs2Y

People should not be penalized for who they are. It would be like banning racially mixed couples from adopting children.

 @9F7S9DC from Michigan  disagreed…2yrs2Y

The relationship between gay couples and children will likely feel unnatural to both the couple and the children

 @9F7Y52W  from Arkansas  disagreed…2yrs2Y

The people that take this stance also take a pro-life stance which doe not make any sense whatsoever.

 @9FLWRBPdisagreed…2yrs2Y

It is simply not fair. Any parent wishing to adopt should undergo a background check to see if theyre qualified.

 @9FLNQZLIndependent from California  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Just because a gay couple wanna adopt a baby doesn't mean they can't i feel like if a straight couple can adopt a baby then everybody else can

 @9B5RNH6 from New York  commented…2yrs2Y

That's bull **** .

 @WhatisaWoman? from Michigan  commented…2yrs2Y

Is it though? Children need both a mother and a father. Gay adoption removes that from them.
