Approval Reasons

Here are some reasons why America voters gave their rating.

 @BBQFH8Q  from Illinois  agreed…4mos4MO

Way below average

He's a rapist, pedophile protector, nazi, fascist boot-licking sycophant

 @B9LXH6D from Indiana  agreed…5mos5MO

Way below average

Wholly unqualified. A white supremacist with a fratboy mentality. A man-child given responsibilities he cannot comprehend.

 @BCM8DHL from Minnesota  agreed…3mos3MO

Pete Hegseth has nowhere near enough experience to be competent at his job, compared to previous Secretaries of Defense. The casual and irreverent attitude towards death and destruction is absolutely disgusting and is unacceptable for someone in his position. It is equally unacceptable that he attempts to bring a crusade-like evangelical dogma to the military, pushing them to be loyal to the Christian God and donald trump (he doesn't deserve the respect of me capitalizing his name) rather than the Constitution of the United States of America.

 @B969HYX from Pennsylvania  agreed…6mos6MO

Way below average

Neither the Secretary of Defense nor Deputy Secretary of Defense are qualified for this position. Even they know this themselves! I am deeply saddened by the ineptness and trivial "Reality Showlike " juvenile experience assembled and representing This US Citizen! NOT- WMB

 @B9F4P9P from Michigan  agreed…6mos6MO

Way below average

Hegseth subscribes to a nationalist outlook that refuses to support our allies and pushes for appeasement and rapproachment with iur near peer rival and long time enemy, Russia. His and the Old Right/MAGA stance is anathema to me.

 @B9T9JSJ from California  agreed…5mos5MO

Way below average

He has no business being a secretary of defense he was a host on fox for crying out loud

 @B9SF9SX from New York  agreed…5mos5MO

Lethal bombing on small civilian Venezuelan boats and justifying it as preventing drug smuggling and terrorism is a bit of a stretch, is there any proper evidence to back up the claims before such boats are targeted? Innocent civilians may be in these boats, there should be better ways to prevent smuggling and terrorism instead of resorting to lethal bombing.

 @BCVJ754  from Idaho  agreed…2mos2MO

Way below average

Peter Brian Hegseth is an alcoholic, rapist, warmongering, religious imbecile. He created a SIGNAL CHAT that was being used to conduct highly classified military operations planning, that Mike Waltz invited Jeffrey Goldberg, the Editor-in-Chief of the Atlantic into. He insulted the military he's nominally in charge of. He ordered war crimes on Venezuelan fishing boats. He's promoting a Postmillennial Christian Dominionist Crusade. He exhibits every trait in The Psychology of Military Incompetence by Norman Dixon. He was the second time the VP's had to confirm a cabinet member, second time it was a Trump cabinet member too.

 @B9RJGKB from Michigan  agreed…5mos5MO

Way below average

He leaked battle plans on a Public chat domain, Lied about war crimes

 @B98RL75 from Missouri  agreed…6mos6MO

I honestly think he's very incompetent and ignorant, and he has very little leadership and has went out and insulted soldiers talking about their physical appearances not being up to standard even going as far to call them fat.

 @B9JC4YY from Indiana  agreed…5mos5MO

Incompetent (use of Signal app) and illegal actions (Venezuela boats, disguised airplane, and bombings in Venezuela, Nigeria, etc.).

 @omg123 from New York  agreed…5mos5MO

 @B9P9FJL from Alabama  agreed…5mos5MO

The U.S. currently has a great defense system but terrorist are still able to commit crimes under the radar until after it occurs. We need to create a way to catch terrorist before it happens.

Some of the things that Pete Hegseth says or does just doesn’t feel appropriate for the United States Secretary of Defense, a major position of power.

 @BCRB8LZ  from New York  agreed…3mos3MO

Pete Hegseth is a dangerous, stupid, unqualified, jingoistic sycophant who has no significant military experience and is too in awe of/afraid of the president to give honest advice. He zealously supported attacking Iran, a terrible idea on the face of it.

 @BBR44MD from Texas  agreed…4mos4MO

Way below average

Starting a war with Iran that only had 29 percent support among voters and bombing multiple countries without congressional approval

 @BBMXXYC from Wisconsin  agreed…4mos4MO

Way below average

First off, the dilemma where he sent classified information to a literal reporter by accident over a non-secure messaging service was really concerning and embarrassing. Further the ignorant decisions including changing the name to Department of War otherwise encouraging conflict instead of peace felt immature and misrepresentative. Lastly, he's not qualified at all. In terms of how poorly of a job he's really done I'm not on the inside so I cannot speak on that.

 @BBJJZHN from Virginia  agreed…4mos4MO

Way below average

Has absolutely no experience, ended up being part of leaked messages scandal, acts like everything is a show. complete lack of professionalism.

Security risks

He reportedly used an unapproved messaging app to share sensitive military information.

Mistakes like this can endanger U.S. personnel and compromise operations.

2. Internal instability and morale issues

Sweeping personnel changes and restructuring have caused confusion, stress, and low morale among staff.

This can make the military less effective and coordinated.

3. Ongoing structural problems

Longstanding issues with outdated systems, bureaucracy, and accountability remain unresolved.

Critics may see this as a failure to address the big challenges facing the Department.

 @B7LZNC3 from Michigan  agreed…9mos9MO

The shooting down of Venezuelan fishing boats is abhorrent. The new policy regarding facial hair in the military is blatantly racist. There is too much to list but Hegseth has been horrible. He also has some pretty racist tattoos. And the removing of swastikas as hate symbols in the military is terrible.
