“Congress has no business passing or rejecting a change to the debt ceiling. They pass the laws that determine revenue and expenses. If these result in a debt we (the US people/govt) ought to be held responsible for paying it. If we don't like the debt that results from our present set of laws then we need to either increase revenue or decrease spending. Personally, I think well managed debt can be an important economic stimulus. I don't know many people (liberal or conservative) who would insist on renting an apartment until they can afford to pay cash for a house.”
