Illegal immigrants, as well as legal immigrants in the country less than five years, are not eligible for free healthcare through Medicaid. A 2007 study estimated that less than 1 percent of Medicaid spending went to healthcare for illegal immigrants. Proponents of subsidized healthcare for immigrants argue that increased access to basic preventive care will lower the demand for costly emergency care. Opponents argue that immigrants in the healthcare system run the risk of becoming "permanent patients," because they have no relatives, insurance or an established address where they can go once released.

I believe all people should be given free or at least affordable healthcare. For illegal immigrants though, I think we should make sure they are given citizenship if they have no criminal record.
@B247XZR7mos7MO
no they have to be legal because if they are not they should be deported, they have there own heathcare
@9TYQMT59mos9MO
No. This money comes from people who were born in the U.S or are U.S. citizens, It's not fair that we'd pay for people who aren't even register citizens to receive the benefits of U.S. citizenship.
@9PS6XHTRepublican1yr1Y
Yes, only after living in the country for about 2 years, having no criminal record, and paying their taxes.
@9KHWNBF1yr1Y
I think that they should at least have residency in the states to receive healthcare from the states
@9K3MCYR1yr1Y
If they have kids then they should get citizen ship and treatment if not only treatment for life threatening emergencies or infectious diseases.
@9JL7XTW1yr1Y
No, but we need to reform our immigration policies to be far more efficient so we can allow proper immigrants into our country, not violent criminals too.
@9HZK7Y81yr1Y
If they can pay taxes and are trying to get a citizenship. If they cannot do these things they should be give basic health care or more health care in life threatening conditions. Children should also be give free healthcare.
Yes, and after that I feel like they should evaluate the reason of why they came to America, and use resources that help them
@9GNFQ7V2yrs2Y
if youre an illegal immagrant I think you should do whats right and get certified but I think they should pay for health care. If you're a legal immigrant of less than 5 years then you shouldn't have to pay for health care.
@9FD898S2yrs2Y
Yes, but only if they absolutely need it. Children should also be cared for as well without being separated from their parents.
@9DQCHKKRepublican2yrs2Y
No, they need to become a legal american citizen
@96XSX3Z3yrs3Y
No, but citizenship should be easier to obtain for those who want to become a United States citizen.
No, but they should be given the ability to become U.S. citizens and apply for healthcare after.
@95XKL3Q3yrs3Y
As long as they are allowed in and cross the border
@95Q299G3yrs3Y
again I don't understand what it is asking
@95JZMH33yrs3Y
@95D2LKT3yrs3Y
as an citizen of the U.S and a immigrant i would help the people. we have doctors for a reason right? why not use them to save others lives? so what if they are illegal? they still are human and will die without proper health treatment.
@95CG4SL3yrs3Y
If you want a system to work, you should follow the law.
@959J59H3yrs3Y
No human is "illegal." They may be "undocumented," but they are not "illegal."
@94L2BVJ3yrs3Y
yes, but only if many low-income americans that cannot get healthcare get the same
@94BZS8R3yrs3Y
Yes but they should still face legal repercusions for illegally entering the US.
@92W64HJ3yrs3Y
yes and no. I am an immigrant myself and I know that we came to the US find a better life than in Nicaragua. My mother made sure that she worked hard and we went to school to better our lives as well. Immigrants have no good healthcare in their countries and come here to get the best they can. We cannot deny them access to medical care but we need to help them progress and become legal productive citizens.
@92QKYVV3yrs3Y
Yes, get the healthcare, then apply for a green card.
@925VC7S3yrs3Y
If they register as a citizen of the U.S.
@8Z7D7H63yrs3Y
Yes, Access to healthcare is a human right
@8Z2MXRF3yrs3Y
people who come here to live better should be able to have all that they need to survive.
@8Z2KPTP3yrs3Y
Yes but after the U.S citizens have been taken care of
@8YK38PX3yrs3Y
no, if you're illegal you should not have access to our amenities, you should've just came here legally and we wouldn't have this problem
@8Y8X6WJ3yrs3Y
Only if they are granted citizenship and go through intense screening
@8XPBWCK4yrs4Y
I think there should be a place for illegal immigrants to go to where they'll have access to their needs and not be punished.
@8XHW5DL4yrs4Y
Yes. If only they have a good history
@8WD9R7F4yrs4Y
They should be allowed to become legal residents or deported.
@8TW5WWJWomen’s Equality4yrs4Y
there should be easier accessibility to becoming a US Citizen for illegal immigrants
@8NSVHL35yrs5Y
There shouldn’t be a such thing as an illegal immigrant, they should be helped onto the path of citizenship
@8KWD8TQ5yrs5Y
All legal immigrants including those who have lived here for less than 5 years should have access to government subsidized healthcare, illegal immigrants should only have access to government subsidized healthcare for life threatening emergencies and infectious diseases.
@8HLKHLJIndependent5yrs5Y
no, only if they are legal immigrants
@8DKV47M5yrs5Y
No they need to become a citizen
@8CNK7TD5yrs5Y
Yes for emergency care and Yes for legal immigrants.
@9CDNMRB2yrs2Y
If they pay taxes, intend on becoming a citizen, have no criminal record, and pass a drug test, yes.
@9CCXVW92yrs2Y
Yes, but only for life threatening emergencies and infectious diseases. Their children should be able to have healthcare.
@99JYRLG2yrs2Y
It should depend on the circumstance.
@98CRNLCRepublican3yrs3Y
im conflicted because my ancestors immigrated to america esseintally as easy as an illegal immigrant was. At ellis island, you wrote your name, your parents names and if you have any illnesses. So it was very simple as far as the paperwork side. But I also understand how some might want less immigrants because it can negativley affect the economy and social econimic circumstances for some.
@98369MFLibertarian3yrs3Y
They should be allowed healthcare IF they are granted citizenship.
depending on who they are
@95ZT25G3yrs3Y
if it affects actual citizens negatively then no
@959HMCM3yrs3Y
The government shouldn't subsidize healthcare..
