Immigrants are valuable and work hard at jobs most of us don't want to do. Be fair to them! They are just looking to support their family!

 @9FTD6D9 from Georgia  agreed…2yrs2Y

I think it is true that they are valuable. However, I feel like this comment is a little undermining. Of course we should be fair to them; immigrants are not an outgroup, they are humans, like all of us are. It would be a little stereotypical to categorize ALL immigrants as doing lower-level jobs. However, it is true that many of them work many blue-collar jobs to get along life.

 @9F982MZ from Illinois  disagreed…2yrs2Y

The current presidency is allowing criminals and mentally insane citizens to infiltrate our country. All who enter the US should come here legally, learn English, and pass a US citizenship test. They should NOT have free handouts either.

 @Fr33SpeechGenesisDemocrat from New Jersey  disagreed…2yrs2Y

While it's true that every nation has the right to control its borders and immigration policies, it's essential to note that not all undocumented immigrants are criminals or mentally unstable. In fact, studies show that immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than native-born citizens. As for learning English and passing a US citizenship test, many immigrants are more than willing to do so, but the current immigration system makes it exceptionally difficult and time-consuming.

Regarding free handouts, it's a common misconception that immigrants have access to a wide range…  Read more

Here is a excerpt from a presentation I did for my class, I started by pointing out that immigrants should not be able to come here illegally.

However, refugees should still be able immigrate to America with the following rules:

Refugees and their children get no help whatsoever from the government, they must make a living themselves, not using our tax money through government programs

If a refugee marries a citizen, the refugee will not gain citizenship, and any kids they have won’t automatically be citizens, but will have a chance for citizenship like any other immigrant

The bill of rights won’t apply to refugees, they cannot sue a citizen, and if they wrong a citizen, they are to be deported immediately

If an actual crime (like torture or robbery) was committed against the refugee, they can still get justice though

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican  from Maryland  commented…9mos9MO

Asylum seekers or refugees, if the conditions in their home countries are truly unlivable, such as if gang violence has taken over the area or their country is at war, they should still be able to come to the US, but with extreme limitations to their rights. So they can choose, do they want to come here where they basically have no rights and will receive no help from the government for themselves and any kids they have or will have, or do they want to stay and live with the conditions back home.

 @9FTX7JY from New York  agreed…2yrs2Y

The immigrants that work jobs that are legal fill a gap that no one wants to fill. The government usually doesn't give visas out for the jobs that they usually work. We are very picky with our immigration laws, but as long as someone is working, I disagree with the take that they're taking away jobs. I believe they work jobs that no one wants to do. The only thing that would be a worry is if they had the visas, would they never have worked those jobs? Most restaurants in New York are ran by paying illegal immigrants to work in the kitchen. They definitely do significant work, it's morally wrong to continue this way.

 @9FX3NJP from Massachusetts  agreed…2yrs2Y

I agree because they came to america for a better life, but they could be taking our potential jobs as a US citizen.

 @9F73WV2 from Texas  disagreed…2yrs2Y

America is filled with different cultures and to not allow people to live in the most free country is to defy the idea of this being the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

 @9F8WQWJ from Washington  disagreed…2yrs2Y

This country has been built by mostly immigrants and theyre should be no reason to keep people in cages or want to kill them only because theyre trying to live a better life.

 @9F7ZBHZ from North Carolina  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Regardless of who you are you should be able to have citizenship in the United States. It is supposed to be a safe haven for people to have freedom, and especially innocent children, deserve the same rights that everyone else has.

 @9F7PN2KLibertarian from Missouri  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Because children of illegal immigrants cannot choose who they are or where they were born, they should be granted legal citizenship if the plan is for them to remain there. It doesn't matter who their parents are or why they are there, they should be treated like anyone else.

 @9F7S7DS from South Carolina  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Immigrants (legal and illegal) are the foundation of this country. Even the founding of this country could not occur without help from immigrants and refugees. In the early days of this country, immigrant labor built the railroads and boom towns. Now immigrants make up the working class. Supporting the rich who think life would be better without them. Without immigration, this country collapses.

 @9F7P8P7Democrat from South Carolina  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Most Immigrant coming from different countries are only coming to make a better life for themselves and family, also the incoming immigrants help the economy.

 @9F7YSZ6 from California  disagreed…2yrs2Y

It should be much easier to become a citizen in America. The only reason there are so many illegal immigrants is because of the difficulty to apply for citizenship.

 @9F7233Y from Texas  disagreed…2yrs2Y

If a child was born in the U.S., they are automatically a citizen, even if their parents are immigrants.

 @9F834B6Peace and Freedom from Wisconsin  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Covered by the 14th amendment, It says that anyone born in America (from immigrants) are indeed American citizens.

 @9F7TFYL from Nebraska  disagreed…2yrs2Y

People wanting to come to this country are usually very grateful and I think letting people in can mostly help the country for the better.

 @9F7RVH6 from Indiana  disagreed…2yrs2Y

We value ourselves as a place where everyone comes to find happiness, and yet we want to make it extremly difficult for anyone to do this?

 @B24BQK9Republican from Maryland  commented…9mos9MO

Only those who work hard to deserve the happiness offered by our country, not everyone

 @9F74C9J from California  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Their parents came to America to give them better opportunities than in the countries they came from. The children and their parents did not ask to be born in a country where their dreams could not be realized, and America was founded on the idea of equality and opportunity.

 @9F85PCW from Texas  disagreed…2yrs2Y

I think children of illegal immigrants should be granted legal citizenship because they deserve a chance to have the same opportunities as someone that was born in the US.

 @9F7FBK6from Guam  disagreed…2yrs2Y

It does not sound absurd but immigrants should be accepted and given every rights as an American citizen does because they are not safe in their own country but that the right thing to do

 @9F83WQPDemocrat from California  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Children should definitely be granted legal citizenship if their parents are illegal immigrants because they have absolutely no say in immigrating into the U.S. They are dragged along by the choice of their parents and are forced to live by the decisions of their parents. It is unfair to punish children with no citizenship when it wasn’t by their choice whatsoever.

 @9F76PJH from Nebraska  disagreed…2yrs2Y

We are all immigrants. Often people coming into the country are victims of United States intervention, or are coming in to flee poverty. Everybody is human and nobody should be banned from coming into America.

 @9F87PXC from Washington  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Immigrants are just normal humans. they shouldn't be punished unless they have done super bad things.

 @9F7QBLC from Arkansas  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Children of illegal immigrants should become legal citizens because under the constitution it states that if a child is born in the united states it is naturalized and that child becomes a citizen even if his or her mother/father are illegal immigrants.

 @9F7SY8T from Texas  disagreed…2yrs2Y

But it says that anyone that is born in the U.S is automatically a citizen and, the parents over time can earn theirs as well. (going off the laws that’s already in place)

 @9F6XB2Q from Illinois  disagreed…2yrs2Y

I believe we're all looking for a place where we can safely pursue happiness and no one should be denied that opportunity.

 @9F85ZPQ from Washington  disagreed…2yrs2Y

There is no evidence to suggest immigration is bad for our country and in fact it has only helped us. It does not lower wages, it does not take jobs. from our economy to our culture immigrants have built this country.

 @9F6YLJG from Illinois  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Immigrants are simply coming to America to find better jobs for themselves so they can provide more for their families and have a better life style.

 @9F6ZQ9D from Michigan  disagreed…2yrs2Y

i think everyone deserves a chance depending on their background, what if they were a family just trying to get away from abuse, they should be aloud to stay.

 @9F7D2PC from New York  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Not offering a child of illegal immigrants legal citizenship is holding back benefits that comes with such legal status for a) an action (immigrating illegally into this country) that they had little to no say in is unjust and b) unfair to someone who is genuinely no different from children of U.S. citizens.

 @9F84DDD from Oregon  disagreed…2yrs2Y

They were born here and it says (in some important document from a long time ago) that anybody born on this land is a citizen, so yes they should be citizens.

 @9F6Q9R2 from Nebraska  disagreed…2yrs2Y

We’re a nation of immigrants living on lane we stole; historically, we’ve taken everyone who wants to come here. Unless they’re outright criminals who want to kill people we have no reason to say they can’t come here.

 @9F6QCP7disagreed…2yrs2Y

The children of those people did nothing wrong and were born on U.S soil. They should not be punished for their parents actions, you cannot punish someone for what they're parents did. They have no control over their parent's choices. They were in the United States so they would be a U.S Citizen.

 @9F7J9YHIndependent from California  disagreed…2yrs2Y

If they are born on United States land, then they are a United States citizen. That's how it was when there were settlers and that's how we all are United States citizens. If we continue to try and divided ourselves, then nothing can get done and everyone would hate one another.

 @9FR25Y8 from New York  disagreed…2yrs2Y

We should control the new entries. But legalize the people that has been here already for decades without any resolution.

 @9F6P9WY from Virginia  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Children that are born and raised in the United states are no different then the children of illegal immigrants so they should be able to be granted legal citzenship.

 @9F7H9MN from California  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Kids deserve a chance at a better life. That's what coming to America has always been for many immigrants, all they want is an opportunity to grant their family a good life. Why should they be denied this and tell their children they are stuck living where they can't move forward financially? I think it's good to have a dream, so the answer should be "yes" to granting illegal immigrants legal citizenship.

 @9F7GQ57 from Illinois  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Immigrants are wanting and willing to come here, work themselves to death, and do the work the "real americans" don't want to do. They are willing to pay proper taxes, take care of what is theirs, and be humble and mind their own business and better the americans businesses because the "real americans" won't do it themselves.

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas  disagreed…2yrs2Y

No immigrant has ever taken anyone's job; if anything, a greedy business-owner might fire you so that he can exploit an immigrant for less pay instead. Blame the business owners, not the immigrants.

 @GraciousJurisdictionGreen from Texas  disagreed…2yrs2Y

While it's understandable to be concerned about job competition, it's important to note that immigrants, regardless of their legal status, often take jobs that are typically shunned by citizens. For instance, agriculture, construction, and service industries heavily rely on immigrant labor. Did you know that in California, almost 70% of farmworkers are undocumented?

Also, granting children of illegal immigrants citizenship could potentially benefit the economy. These children, when grown up, could contribute to the workforce and pay taxes. Moreover, they could bring fresh ideas, diversity, and cultural richness to society.

What do you think could be a potential solution to ensure job security for citizens while also considering the contributions of immigrants?

 @9F7ZRRV  from California  disagreed…2yrs2Y

The banning of immigration will inevitably lead to the fall of structure within job opportunities and wages

While it's true that the 14th Amendment grants citizenship to anyone born on U.S. soil, this principle, known as birthright citizenship, has been subject to debate. Some argue it's an outdated concept, originally intended to provide citizenship for freed slaves, not for children of non-citizens or illegal immigrants. They suggest it may encourage illegal immigration and birth tourism.
