The GOP has a real uphill battle, though, especially if they can’t appeal to moderates and independents. At the same time, Newsom and the Democrats shouldn’t take their dominance for granted, because voters are clearly frustrated with the status quo. If both sides actually focused on practical solutions instead of party loyalty, maybe California wouldn’t feel so stuck.
