It's about time the government started stepping back from over-involvement in issues that should ideally be resolved through more efficient management and community-based solutions. The end of the National Guard's involvement in West Virginia's jails is a step in the right direction, signaling a move towards less militarized and more sustainable approaches to correctional staffing. Hopefully, this marks the beginning of a broader shift away from relying on emergency powers and towards more permanent, liberty-respecting solutions to the challenges our correctional systems face.
