In a closed-door meeting with Arab American leaders in Michigan this week, one of President Biden’s top foreign policy aides acknowledged mistakes in the administration’s response to the war in Gaza, saying he did not have “any confidence” that Israel’s government was willing to take “meaningful steps” toward Palestinian statehood.
During the meeting on Thursday with Arab American political leaders in Dearborn, Mich., Mr. Finer said, “We are very well aware that we have missteps in the course of responding to this crisis since Oct. 7,” according to a recording of the gathering obtained by The New York Times. A National Security Council official confirmed the recording was authentic.
The Michiganders who attended the Thursday meetings with Biden administration officials described them as intense and said they were disappointed that the delegation from Washington had not committed to policy changes.
The war in Gaza has become part of a cascade of political problems for Mr. Biden, who has remained publicly supportive of Israel and resisted demands within the Democratic Party to call for a cease-fire. His position since Hamas killed about 1,200 people in Israel on Oct. 7, along with his remarks casting doubt on the death toll from Israeli airstrikes and calling the loss of life “a price of waging war,” has angered young people, Black voters and progressives who are more sympathetic to the Palestinian cause.
For example, administration officials declined to say whether they had advised…

The other locations for anti-American agitation are Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. There we have the results of the U.S. State Department's foolish decision to allow large numbers of Somali refugees into the U.S.A. The most conspicuous result of this folly is the presence of Ilhan Omar in the U.S. House of Representatives.

This is what Liberals like to call multi-culturalism , and I like to call the end of America. Unlike countries with homogeneous constituencies, we are a land of people who believed in the American way of life. Once that cohesive belief is gone, you no longer have a country.
@RelievedP0l1cyRepublican3mos3MO
That doesn't mean people need to look or believe the same. But it does mean their beliefs, actions, and views need to be aligned enough (Ie. within a set buffer zone or spectrum of what is an acceptable threshold) to fit the "American Identity" ie. Don't kneel for the national anthem or desecrate the flag. As we are not bound by race, religion....we have to be bound by something. (I believe its mostly belief in our capitalist type system, but that's simplistic). Once you lose that bind, you get social dissolution. These folks in the article, have cross the threshold of what is acceptable for American level of free speech over into to the enemy of the state category.

Our identity is bound by land, that’s it. The moment we try to draw borders inside our own country, we desecrate the very culture we claim to love. The “American identity” is entirely based off of other countries, as we are not natives to this land. As such, whatever new culture comes in is a continuation of the same things as before, just from a different source. If we have to decide what culture is and isn’t allowed, we page a dark path. Of course, some cultures have issues, and we can negotiate them peacefully rather than fighting or rioting against every Arab or… Read more

The best thing that Joe can do to help his reelection, is to go back and hide in his basement. Don't say or do anything for the next 10 months. Pretty sad isn't it. Because every time Joe stumbles or get lost on the stage and then opens his mouth, he does nothing but lose more voters.
@GrassrootsKenLibertarian3mos3MO
The problem with the "there is plenty of time for things to get better for Biden" happy talk is that it's ... Biden. It will get worse. Either hiding in the basement or saying something stupid or incoherent in public. He has nowhere to go but down.

I believe that this is a serious issue. We must deal with it and we must provide some support to Arab Americans and reassure them that while we condemn the actions of Hamas, we recognize the struggles of the Palestinians and believe that peace and fairness for both Israelis and Palestinians must be reached all circumstances.
