It is ideally the purpose of a government and country to serve its population to the best of its ability, however it has been demonstrated that cooperation and solidarity produces greater results than nationalism or isolationism.

 @9H936M4 from California  answered…1yr1Y

yes, each nation should always prioritize their own people

 @9H93MYK from Michigan  commented…1yr1Y

 @9H8NZYDRepublican from Wisconsin  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, because America's first priority should always be its citizens, not the citizens of another country.

 @9H8NCJ7 from Pennsylvania  answered…1yr1Y

I think it is more important to prioritize the citizen's well-being over global cooperation because, in your home nation, the people in it should always come first before anybody outside of it.

 @9H7ZZ7N from California  answered…1yr1Y

I think it is important for a country to prioritize its own citizens due to the fact that the reason a country stays running is because of its citizens and without them the country will collaspe.

 @9H8VNNV from Georgia  answered…1yr1Y

I think citizens’ wellbeing should be prioritized because with people sick or ill, most people won’t cooperate anyway.

 @9H87MDM from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

I think it is important because if we do not prioritize our own citizens how are we going to help other nations.

 @9H8RXPJ from Florida  answered…1yr1Y

I believe that it is important for any country to put themselves first in every aspect of their best intrests

 @9H8QNDCanswered…1yr1Y

how could we help other countries if ours citizens are struggling, our citizens should be top priority.

 @9H97ZN7 from Missouri  answered…1yr1Y

I think that a country's citizens should be the first priority of the government, unless it is going to damage the lives of people in other countries

 @9H8NMPGCommunist from Washington  answered…1yr1Y

Very mildly yes. a slight priority to issues concerning their country, but they should also be deeply tied into the international stage.

 @9H98L8N from Delaware  answered…1yr1Y

I think the government should definitely focus on what's happening within our nation, but I don´t think we should exclude global cooperation.

 @9H8KTGL from Washington  answered…1yr1Y

Yes because only once a country has internal stability should they seek to help out in global efforts.

 @9H93DZDanswered…1yr1Y

I think its important to prioritize its own citizens. Prioritizing other nations would leave the citizens abandoned, as for the US many americans are struggling financially however the US is too focused on foreign issues.

 @9H8FP9B from Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

The country should prioritize its citizens to ensure their prosperity and security.

 @9H65494Reform from Iowa  answered…1yr1Y

Yes because the only reason a country is a country is because of its citizens who strive to keep the country around.

 @9H7LFPK from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

I would argue that its more important to care for the citizens well-being over global cooperation

 @9H7RNV5 from Michigan  answered…1yr1Y

Country citizen are the most important things. They should prioritize its citizens' , usual it wasn't benefitial for trade and other things.

 @9H9CRSDLibertarian  from California  answered…1yr1Y

Yes it’s more important for a country to prioritize their own citizens, because every country has different values and should abide by their constitution.

 @9LDD6M3Peace and Freedom from Oregon  answered…12mos12MO

No, everyone in the states should be treated with the same respect and courtesy as a us citizen. Nationalism is wrong and leads to wars.

 @9LG457D from Utah  disagreed…12mos12MO

Nationalism is not what is at question. Its the health and confidence in the Government that the GOV should focus on. It should also focus on those who are citizens inside it before those who are outside it.

 @9LG4C88Republican from Minnesota  disagreed…12mos12MO

That yes we should treat non citizens with respect but only hen the circumstance is right. If there is a threat all US citizens should be prioritized.

 @9LG47N3 from Missouri  agreed…12mos12MO

A man’s duty is to himself first, and then his family, then his community, then his county, then his state, then his nation, then his species and then finally the world.

 @9LG346B from Maine  agreed…12mos12MO

Absolutely, if a country cannot survive at all without the help of others at this point in time there's nothing we can do to make it better. Africa, to begin with, needs to be cut off from aid and learn to stand on its own two legs for once, otherwise the only thing we can do is offer to re-colonize it and take charge of their natural resources in return for our stabilizing presence.

The West has sent almost 3 Trillion dollars in various forms of aid to Africa over the past few decades; and the only thing that has done is to further corrupt their political class and offer no significant…  Read more

It presupposes the existence of nations and tends to promote the interests of a particular nation, especially with the aim of gaining and maintaining its sovereignty (self-governance) over its perceived homeland to create a nation-state.

 @9H8S2CH from Iowa  answered…1yr1Y

Yes because if the government cares so much about our freedom they should be aware of how it happens

 @9H8CG6K from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

Americans fight for America, im not going to go to war and say "FOR THE FRENCH!!!" because im not french im american so im fighting for America not france. im fighting for my people, i dont care about other countries as much

 @9H8NCP6 from Illinois  answered…1yr1Y

If we don't have our own country together how are we gonna help anyone else?

 @9H7SBX6 from California  answered…1yr1Y

yes because the people of our country should come before the people of others

 @9KNP7Q4Libertarian from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

Well as the UNited States we are the finishline, everyone wants to become like us in a certain way, but we should protect ourselves and the world first, over another countries beliefs.

 @9KVW2JG from Missouri  agreed…1yr1Y

Everyone is human and deserves the opportunity to live a healthy life. Everyone should be happy and have a healthy life instead of just prioritizing over global cooperation.

 @9KVLQMV from Florida  agreed…1yr1Y

Every Country Should want to protect themselves and the world first. We would get along better if we thought of the benefits of our citizens first and humankind all over the world.

 @9KV4XZDRepublican  from Kentucky  agreed…1yr1Y

I think that Americans should be prioritized. It seems counterproductive for an American citizen to vote for a candidate who won’t put them first, and will choose citizens in another country whose government isn’t doing enough to support them. It isn’t our responsibility to care for every other country in the world because they are less fortunate. I think we should do everything we can to help to an extent; we should help them stay afloat, but they shouldn’t rely on us to bail them out every time. There are American people who need government assistance, and the U.S government should put the American people first. We should fix the problems in our own country before we try to fix problems in another.

 @9KLBFWY from California  answered…1yr1Y

I think it's important for a country to strike a balance between prioritizing its own citizens' wellbeing and engaging in global cooperation.

 @9KLMXT7Independent from Indiana  agreed…1yr1Y

we have to start in our own country/ citizens and take care of it/ them before we go around spending money on others.

 @9KLLJVK from Maryland  agreed…1yr1Y

If someone is living in a specific country with a reason, they should be given protection above almost all else.

 @9KLKSF8Independent from Connecticut  agreed…1yr1Y

The government is created by the people, for the people and should be abusing its position and citizens wants and desires.

 @9KSKTYDIndependent  from Connecticut  answered…1yr1Y

A country needs to prioritize its citizen's well-being, but there are certain scenarios where global action is required, and in such cases, action should be taken. A good nation will have a common sense of when to prioritize their citizens or when to cooperate globally, but more often than not, we should solve our problems before we solve others.

 @9KW2PJC  from Utah  disagreed…1yr1Y

In case of World Wars and In other neighbouring allied countries problems, Countries should prioritize the better good than anything else, but also should spend time thinking about the people they protect in their country

 @9KW2CGK from North Carolina  agreed…1yr1Y

Because if you think about other people first instead of your own then you wont be able to take care of yours.

 @9KVBDGR from California  agreed…1yr1Y

Citizens make a country. Without citizens there are no countries, so the citizens of a country is more important.

 @9KLS5FK  from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

Absolutely! There are so many people in NEED in the USA.
Ukraine and Israel should not be receiving so much aid. That money needs to be invested IN EVERYONE THAT PAYS TAXES- for universal Healthcare and education instead.

 @9KLW72XConstitution from Missouri  disagreed…1yr1Y

While many people are in need, a large amount of these citizens choose to remain so. The government already has programs in place to provide relief to the needy and homeless. While some just have a rough go, many people refuse to ask for help, or spend all their money on drugs and hookers. In these cases, it is the fault of the individual, not the government

 @9KLV8ZW from Michigan  disagreed…1yr1Y

While Americans need help, we need to protect our interests by helping Allies. Universal healthcare and universal education would only give the government more power, which is not good.

 @9KM2RSV from Minnesota  agreed…1yr1Y

The debt ceiling just had to be raised i think the US needs to learn how to mind their business and stop funding imperialistic agendas

 @9H8PWJG from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

Yes because the country should be able to deliver imported goods from Poland to the Us

 @9H8WBSQWomen’s Equality from Illinois  answered…1yr1Y

 @9H7VRH9Women’s Equalityanswered…1yr1Y

I'm not too educated on other countries' rights, laws, and opinions, but I think each nation/country should not bring beliefs or opinions into rationality. People need to think.

 @9H8VQRJ from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, without a country's citizens the government would fall or there would be a revolution

 @9H927YNPeace and Freedomanswered…1yr1Y

Yes, because global cooperation can take place if citizens' have a good wellbeing.

 @Name-IrrelevantConstitution  from West Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

The better question is "why WOULDN'T a country prioritize its own citizens?" Governments don't exist for the sake of the world. They exist for the people who built them. Voting for a leader who will place globalist agendas over the wellbeing of your own family is antirational.

 @9HYYZQXagreed…1yr1Y

I believe that the citizens make the country and there have been too many instances where the citizens of he US have gone unheard and I believe that as a country, they should do everything in their power to stengthen community and make sure the people and citizens are okay,.

 @TotallyNotAttila  from Pennsylvania  answered…1yr1Y

they are both equally important "all men are created equal" regardless of where you may be from

i think its important to put first dibs on the people of the nation, but world cooperation is one of the best things to happen in the last 1000 years

 @9KQDMMG from Kentucky  commented…1yr1Y

We should be able to coop with the rest of the world while still putting America first.

 @9KQ75KK  from California  agreed…1yr1Y

The citizens of the country should always come first, but that is only possible if we cooperate with other nations.

 @9H88JYWLibertarian from Nebraska  answered…1yr1Y

 @9H942Z8 from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

A citizens well being should be cared for right now, since people are slowly going insane right now here.

 @9H97WT8 from Georgia  answered…1yr1Y

I do, I feel the citizens, aka the people, deserve to have their wellbeing put first rather than global cooperation.

 @9KCKLQSLibertarian from Pennsylvania  answered…1yr1Y

I think it's important to prioritize its own citizens well being over global cooperation because focusing and prioritizing its own citizens can strengthen the bond and connection between citizens and their country

 @9KDL57Gagreed…1yr1Y

a countries duty is to protect its citizens.this also means that other countries in turn are allowed to do the same and refuse to aid when asked

 @9KCKX47 from Texas  commented…1yr1Y

 @9KQ7RMBRepublican from Kansas  answered…1yr1Y

Our own country is falling apart. We simply cannot afford to be concerned with the outside world, unless it affects us.

 @9KSJQ4JDemocrat from California  agreed…1yr1Y

I think they should worry more about citizens well being because it should be the number one priority.

 @9KSJJZM from California  agreed…1yr1Y

We are starting to have a lot of issues within the country whether it is racial, social, or economic that is causing both property damage and trust we have with each other as Americans.

 @9L6YDGB from Missouri  answered…12mos12MO

I think the country should think as both as equally important but should always prioritize its citizens.

 @9L9W94D from North Carolina  agreed…12mos12MO

 @9KPXZPJ from California  answered…1yr1Y

Yes because without citizens there wouldn't be a country.

 @9KTL5TR  from Georgia  agreed…1yr1Y

It would be more likely for there to be a civil war/internal conflict due to a bad wellbeing than an outside conflict/war.

 @9KTJ75Y from North Carolina  disagreed…1yr1Y

individual Countries will never be permanent but what matters is the wellbeing of the things that will last. preservation of life and happiness is more important than a single nation. Another counter-example would be that countries or other forms of unity will never go away. Humans are a species that works better together and they will always form groups of some kind.

 @9KNL3S2Women’s Equality from Indiana  answered…1yr1Y

A country that doesn't prioritize its citizens first is not good at all. Take into consideration the amount of respect that needs to be given and taken to deserve this kind of outrageousness. And over the global corporation, forget it this wrong.

 @9KQKF2X from Pennsylvania  agreed…1yr1Y

The United States was built on ideas that it is for the people and it is not our job to save others before saving ourselves

 @9KPWL52 from California  agreed…1yr1Y

the people are the source of the cooperation, if you don't priorities the people then your cooperation will be null.

 @9L7BYFY from California  answered…12mos12MO

No, every human being deserves the same treatment and that is especially true for the US.

 @9L9TMVY from North Carolina  agreed…12mos12MO

Nationalism and anti-immigration sentiment often leads to ignoring human rights violations of non-citizens.

 @9L9279YIndependent from Pennsylvania  disagreed…12mos12MO

We are not the world's police force or savior. We have too many people struggling here in our country, they should always be helped first

 @9L5K9BN from Virginia  answered…12mos12MO

yes because most other countries do not give or care about us like we do about them.

 @9L6478V from North Carolina  disagreed…12mos12MO

If that's the case, why do we have allies? What would keep us from all being at each other's throats? It's because we all care. Of course our own country is important, but so are the others.

 @9L62BY8 from Ohio  agreed…12mos12MO

The big corporations are the ones causing inflation. Use the hundreds of billions of dollars you have, and stop putting it on the people, who barely have enough to feed themselves.

 @9L59PFW from Connecticut  answered…12mos12MO

 @9L5WD3B from South Dakota  agreed…12mos12MO

I think its a governments job and duty to put its attention first to its own citizens before doing anything to help other countries and their citizens.

 @9KRMWDMGreen from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

I believe people should look after each other, it doesn't matter if its locally or globally as long as no government is involved.

 @9KSYZB9agreed…1yr1Y

Our government should be more concerned with the people in our country than other people overseas that are not.

 @9KSYX47agreed…1yr1Y

 @9KTMK2W  from Tennessee  agreed…1yr1Y

In the case of our country we are U.S. citizens but our government is so concerned about matters around the world. Who cares about Ukraine lower my gas prices!

 @9H92YD6 from Georgia  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, this is because the country may not have the excessive finances to support global cooperations.

 @9KZMVMKDemocrat  from Maryland  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, because healthcare is very important and the government should care about its people in order to keep a happy, healthy country.

 @9L2PB7C from Texas  disagreed…1yr1Y

If this question is saying we should have free healthcare I disagree because someone has to be paying the doctors and nurses. We will still be paying for it but it will just be in the middle-class's taxes. It not fair for those people that do not have to go to the doctor that often to be paying for other peoples healthcare.

 @9L2GR88 from Nebraska  agreed…1yr1Y

Why would a government worry about another country's citizens while their own citizens aren't doing better? Why would a government support another country or global cooperation but not support its own country? Biden is a great example of how this went wrong.

 @9KWL2N8 from New York  answered…1yr1Y

YES, I think that many Americans are struggling over here while millions of dollars are sent to countries, and many of the people here cannot afford simple living.

 @9KPPX2L from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

I think it's more important that global cooperation than one's own citizens. I believe if we did something good for global cooperation, it will be beneficial to our own citizens.
