The Gulf of Mexico is a large body of water bordering the southeastern United States, Mexico, and parts of Cuba. The proposal to rename it the Gulf of America suggests altering a long-established geographic name, potentially reflecting nationalistic sentiments or differing historical perspectives. Proponents argue that renaming could strengthen U.S. national identity and reflect current geopolitical realities. Opponents argue that it dismisses historical and cultural ties of the surrounding region, risks diplomatic tensions, and undermines the historical name recognized worldwide.

No, it should not be changed. Ideally, it would stay the 'Gulf of Mexico', but if it should change, it should be the 'Gulf of North America', not the 'Gulf of America'/'Gulf of the United States'.

Yes!! For the sake of patriotism!! Also, five states touch it: Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida!! It covers more of America than Mexico!!
@B4JPM9X1mo1MO
Who cares? different countries constantly refer to places by different names, why is this important or even a debate?
@B4FCJW41mo1MO
Yes! It touches more of America than Mexico, BY FAR!! It touches five states: Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida!! Anyone who disagrees with renaming it to that is unpatriotic!! Preserve patriotism, NOW!!

No, changing the name of important aspects of people's homes for no good reason is disruptive to the formation of culture and tradition.

Absolutely not. What is the point of changing something that has no point but to upset people and make America seem worse?
@B5373LV2wks2W
they called it the Gulf of Mexico because America wasn't even a country yet. if trump hated Mexico so much, he would've left the name like that because most natural disasters that damage his Florida home are made in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean, and Bermuda area

Gulf of Americas or Gulf of the Americas would make more sense and would be far less opposed by most.
