welfare just needs to be harder to qualify they should testify the kids and view how they are actually living.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...11yrs11Y

Fewer

 @9FRPS8J from California  disagreed…2yrs2Y

There is A lot of Fraud with welfare theirs many people like Undocumented mothers using their documented kids to ask our government to give them money and its a lot of money and the money goes to enjoying life instead it should be money to just survive to have shelter bills or food that is only certain brands not high quality foods . high brand food should be hard earned.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...11yrs11Y

More, reform the system so that it supplements, rather than replaces, a working income

 @9GVPPRJ  from California  disagreed…2yrs2Y

It is a good idea to save some money to use it for helping other needs in the country. However, some individuals only or main income is from Welfare so it will only worsen the problem.

  @TheHillbillyLordRepublican from Maryland  disagreed…2mos2MO

If their only source of income is welfare, then that means they aren't producing anything for society, therefore they don't deserve to consume anything from society either.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...11yrs11Y

Fewer, current benefits do not provide enough support

 @9HJWKMN from Washington  agreed…2yrs2Y

This is apparent based on the extent of homelessness. The same people who express the most negative sentiment about the homeless are, ironically, often the same ones who say we need to have more restrictions on welfare. I know people who have "invisible" disabilities(not obvious to a stranger at first glance, but very real nonetheless), and it has been way too hard for them to get assistance. They're living with me, and I can't just let them become homeless. When society doesn't share the burden, it all falls onto a smaller number of kind people to shoulder it.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...10yrs10Y

More, and deny benefits to immigrants

 @9F5WMD6from Northern Mariana Islands  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Immigration is a very useful way to improve the state of our country, not only well educated immigrants, but uneducated ones as well for a variety of reasons. Having more working age members within a society is always useful, especially since they specifically want to be in the United States. Relating to that, attracting more immigrants is important, providing benefits to immigrants will bring more in, especially educated ones. Furthermore, these are not simply numbers, these are human beings. Helping them through welfare is important, as it is with everyone in our great nation.

 @DovesSerenityfrom Kansas  disagreed…2yrs2Y

While I agree that immigration can bring numerous benefits to our country, we must also consider the economic implications. Welfare programs are primarily funded by taxpayers and distributing these resources to a larger population, including immigrants, could strain the system. For instance, in California, a state with a high immigrant population, the welfare system has been under severe stress due to their inclusive policies. This often leads to less resources for citizens who have contributed to the system for years. How would you propose we balance the needs of our citizens and the desire to assist immigrants without overburdening our welfare system?

  @TheHillbillyLordRepublican from Maryland  commented…5mos5MO

Legal immigrants should still be able to get welfare benefits. It should be the illegals that are denied all welfare benefits or any sort of government aid. The government should be spending less on programs like welfare so taxes for citizens can be reduced.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...10yrs10Y

Fewer, and ensure benefits go to those that need it most

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...10yrs10Y

More, but increase benefits for the elderly and disabled

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...11yrs11Y

More, current benefits should be capped

  @TheHillbillyLordRepublican from Maryland  agreed…2mos2MO

Welfare spending is too much, and needs to be reduced and capping welfare benefits is an excellent way to do this, as well as testing and terminating all benefits to drug-users.

 @967FDNC from Oklahoma  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8G4T258Patriotic Peoples from Oklahoma  answered…5yrs5Y

Leave it the same for most but ban illegal immigrants and those who don't pay taxes. Also increase benefits for elderly and disabled as thier fixed income isn't much and most elderly get $12-25$ and that is not enough.

 @8FLK3FN from Idaho  answered…5yrs5Y

I feel like it should be a lot more personalized and there should be an emphasis on not being able to cheat the system.

 @9665XKT from Oklahoma  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9GSGPR3 from Indiana  answered…2yrs2Y

People should be encouraged and expected to provide for themselves as much as they are able to do so. Government does not exist to enable its citizenry in self destructive cycles of laziness but rather to help it rise up above challenges and help it be self reliant. No illegal immigrant should receive any form of welfare as it creates an undue burden on the us taxpayer.

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas  disagreed…2yrs2Y

 @9NTH43Q from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

Fewer, direct benefits towards those most in need who are working hardest to escape their situation and ensure that all benefits supplement rather than replace a working income

 @9G3DHMG from Wisconsin  answered…2yrs2Y

Fewer, in fact, all welfare assistance programs for people (including those due to illness, natural disasters, and corporate bailouts / welfare) should be abolished. Those who apply for such benefits should receive the death penalty.

 Deletedanswered…2yrs2Y

Regardless, we should abolish all welfare programs

  @TheHillbillyLordRepublican from Maryland  commented…2mos2MO

A minimal level of welfare is important to ensure that those who truly can't find a job can still live

 @9SR4GDNDemocrat  from Utah  answered…10mos10MO

Reform current benefits that do not include work requirements, address barriers to unemployment, and have a time limit.

 @B5SYZ76 from New York  answered…3wks3W

Increase benefits for the elderly and disabled and impeach Trump for gutting social programs to pay trillions to billionaires

 @9ZLX6GNDemocrat from South Carolina  answered…8mos8MO

There should be common-sense reform that may involve an increase or decrease in restrictions, depending on the situation.

 @9HB5MKV from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

Less. Direct benefits towards those most in need and reform the system so it supplements rather than replaces a working income. Anyone on welfare should be doing all they can to get off it and should be provided resources to help find a stable, suitable job if needed.

 @9FRLXGC from New Jersey  answered…2yrs2Y

More, deny benefits to illegal immigrants, and increase benefits for those who could be eligible for them (Elderly, disabled, etc.)

 @9D3RPBQfrom Guam  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9S2PDWW from Virginia  answered…11mos11MO

There should be Great restrictions on our welfare Benefits, illegal immigrants, and immigrants without legal status, and criminals should not be able to to gain access to Welfare benefits. And the benefits should be heavily maintained and surveyed in order to ensure that there is not over generosity.

 @9L74FFC from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

Neither, reform the system to ensure it supplements instead of replaces a working income and direct benefits towards those most in need who are making concerted efforts to get off welfare

 @9L4Z23BIndependent  from Pennsylvania  answered…1yr1Y

More. End all federal welfare programs and replace with a negative income tax for low income earners

 @9JDPKH4Democrat from New York  answered…1yr1Y

Fewer. the income cap on welfare benefits should be raised to the point that a beneficiary of welfare can sustain their living, and the cap should be set at a rate that the recipient can independently afford what the benefits provide.

 @9GN5KWP from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

Fewer. Ensure that benefits go to those most in need and that benefits only supplement instead of replace a working income. Anyone on welfare should be doing all they can to get off it

 @9GJTNP9 from Maryland  answered…2yrs2Y

Reform the system so that it supplements a working income, but also make sure the benefits are going to those who need it most.

 @9GSJY34 from Colorado  answered…2yrs2Y

Require people to buy better food. People should not be spending a piece of my paycheck on trash *** gas station food. It is inefficient to the consumer and the ones paying for it.

 @9F9LZ94 from Missouri  answered…2yrs2Y

Fewer, also give benefits to immigrants, also increase benefits for the elderly and disabled, and reform the system so that it supplements, rather than replaces, a working income.

 @9F4B2VJ from Missouri  answered…2yrs2Y

Fewer restrictions for the elderly and disabled while reforming the system to prevent people from gaming the system. More restrictions against individuals who aren’t in the country legally, the government’s duty/obligation is to its citizens and those who are here legally and we shouldn’t incentivize people arriving illegally

 @9DRHX76  from Georgia  answered…2yrs2Y

The implementation of a universal basic income would render this irrelevant.

 @9DRH6Q7 from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

I don't feel the restrictions to who gets it is too harsh but I do feel funding should be expanded especially in situations involving children.

 @9DGB99H from New Jersey  answered…2yrs2Y

Fewer, but decrease the need to rely on welfare benefits by investing in affordable housing and healthcare and by bolstering labor bargaining rights.

 @9DD79J2Republican from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

Expand it for those who need it the most but deny it to illegal immigrants.

 Deletedanswered…2yrs2Y

Fewer, and change our current welfare state into a universal, welfare state

 @9D769PB from Georgia  answered…2yrs2Y

The qualifications do not adequately support the world and how inflation/ cost of living impacts people.

 @9D4ZMSQLibertarian from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

The vast majority of the current welfare recipients should be removed from the welfare rolls, or have additional restrictions placed upon them in order to continue to receive assistance. This will free up money for the truly needy.

 @9D4R3SKDemocrat from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

Maintain much of the current structure but reconfigure it to support income rather that replace it entirely, otherwise it breeds complacency.

 @summonashesPeace and Freedom from Massachusetts  answered…3yrs3Y

Fewer, and the bureaucracy of means-testing often has disproportionately high costs compared to the cost-savings it purportedly offers.

 @B5X6NL2  from North Carolina  answered…1wk1W

Reform the system so that it acts as a supplement for working income but increase for elderly and disabled people.

 @B5T8FYF from Illinois  answered…3wks3W

Same and maybe more for lower income, but check the legal statues of the applicants and revoke status for illegals.

 @B5S69QZ from California  answered…3wks3W

Welfare should be privatized and should not be the state's business. State welfare is mandatory insurance.

 @B5RKNL7 from Arkansas  answered…4wks4W

More, and deny benefits to ILLEGAL immigrants, or anyone who is not a citizen of the United States. .

 @B5FBC8Gfrom Virgin Islands  answered…2mos2MO

Fewer, means testing adds unnecessary bureaucracy that soaks up the funding that are intended for benefits.

 @B58NX8HIndependent from Kansas  answered…2mos2MO

Neither but reform the system by making the benefits work for everyone instead of making more or less but take the ones out that have made more harm

 @B56VSQQ from Nebraska  answered…2mos2MO

Create a federal work program instead so "welfare" recipients complete work for the government and the citizens before receiving their tax dollar dole out.

 @B4ZYZYK from Illinois  answered…2mos2MO

No more restrictions are needed, but the system that sorts claims and benefits is grossly outdated. We need to update the system, spend more time checking the validity of claims, and make sure that those who really need it are the ones who are getting it.

 @B4YHQGT from Massachusetts  answered…2mos2MO

The brackets for those who receive benefits needs to be adjusted in a more comprehensive manner and the quality of the benefits they receive should be greater in quality as well

 @B4M67PG from Louisiana  answered…3mos3MO

More but increase benefits for the elderly and disabled while it also supplements rather than replaces a working income.

 @B4KLCSB from California  answered…3mos3MO

There should be more restrictions on long term welfare recipients because our welfare system should be measured by how many people get off of it and if they are still stuck on welfare then our system has failed

 @4KBRM54 answered…3mos3MO

Regardless, reform of welfare programs should be made. Social welfare should not be eliminated, but massive reforms should be made.

 @B4G3RQVNo Labels from Illinois  answered…3mos3MO

All financial bills and responsibilities should be taken into consideration when qualifying for benefits. Just because someone makes more money than the income matrix allows does not mean a person shouldn’t qualify for substantial benefits. The cost of inflation is a huge hindrance in how far the money is able to stretch.

 @B4FCJW4Republican from Georgia  answered…3mos3MO

There should be more for the sake of low taxes, low national debt, a good supply chain, a good GDP, good trade, low unemployment, capitalism, and weak government It should only be allowed for the elderly and/or disabled. The fact is everyone gets what they deserve in terms of how hard they work.

 @9DLL4YZDemocrat  from Massachusetts  answered…3mos3MO

Streamline welfare to support those truly in need while removing red tape, promoting work and opportunity, and ensuring accountability so the system serves both families and taxpayers effectively.

 @B4D6KHP from Georgia  answered…3mos3MO

There should be more for the sake of a good GDP, a good supply chain, good trade, low unemployment, low taxes, low national debt, capitalism, federalism, weak government, and checks and balances. The only people who should be eligible for it should be the elderly and/or disabled. In other words, everyone gets what they deserve in terms of how hard they work.

 @B4B5FVS from Utah  answered…3mos3MO

Major reforms are needed in general. It should supplement rather than replace a working income. We should also deny benefits for immigrants until they become citizens.

 @B48ZGNN from Maryland  answered…3mos3MO

Replace welfare with a Universal Basic Income, with additional subsidies administered by state governments for children, the elderly, and the disabled.

 @B45H73W from Utah  answered…3mos3MO

More. The system should be reformed so that benefits for the elderly and disabled are increased, to supplement a working income rather than replace one, and for benefits to go to those that need it most first.

 @B457SQN from Georgia  answered…3mos3MO

More, and reform the welfare system to be a supplement for those who have fallen on hard times instead of a means of income.

 @B43KVJ3 from New York  answered…3mos3MO

Fewer but if people take advantage of it put more restrictions after a current trend happens with unemployment

 @B3ZYM5D from Georgia  answered…4mos4MO

For the sake of the supply chain, the GDP, low taxes, capitalism, checks and balances, a weak central government federalism, low national debt, trade, and keeping the unemployment rate down, welfare should be banned unless it is for the elderly and/or the disabled

In other words, the perfect version of the economy is when everyone gets what they deserve in terms of how hard they work unless they are kids, elderly, and/or disabled

 @B3YL2J3 from Texas  answered…4mos4MO

More, and deny benefits to illegal immigrants. Welfare benefits should only apply to those who are already working hard and are still unable to support themselves, or those such as the elderly and disabled who are genuinely inhibited from supporting themselves in some way.

 @B3R83C8 from New York  answered…4mos4MO

More, and deny benefits to illegal immigrants. Benefits should be focused alleviating poverty and assisting those well below the poverty line, not benefiting certain groups based soley on skin color. Those on welfare should be subject to intense scrutiny and weekly audits of their income and participants that are benefiting from the system that are not indirect need of assistance should be immediately terminated.

 @B3QM2V9 from California  answered…4mos4MO

A few. Illegals shouldn't be allowed to get it. Drug tests should be mandatory for cash aid/general assistance and if they are dirty they can inly keep their food stamps until they are able to go to rehab and provide a clean test I'd they still.need aid.

 @9L4Z23BIndependent  from Pennsylvania  answered…4mos4MO

Consolidate all welfare programs and convert into cash grants. Must work on average 25 hours a week to be eligible, with exceptions for the elderly and the disabled

 @B3JM2BL from North Carolina  answered…4mos4MO

More, and deny benefits to illegal immigrants, cap current benefits, increase benefits for the elderly and disabled, and reform the system so that it supplements, rather than replaces, a working income.

 @B3FN592 from Missouri  answered…4mos4MO

Fewer restrictions for immigrants and verifiably disabled. Keep the alcoholism and drug restrictions

 @B3DHPL4 from North Dakota  answered…4mos4MO

I believe the benefits should be to people who are actually struggling and the disabled and elderly. But those benefits should not be abused.
