No

 @9FQLH8PRepublican  from California  disagreed…2yrs2Y

There's no other way to resolve illegal immigration crisis. We need to stop them at the boarder, and detain and deport those who enter the country illegally.

 @B4SZQNT  from Colorado  agreed…3mos3MO

It costs about over $10,000 on average to deport a single person. About 45% of all illegal immigrants entered legally. Illegal immigrants are about 37% less likely to commit violent crime than US-born citizens.

 @B4HSPC2 from California  agreed…3mos3MO

A lot of people in the US immigrate illegally. Honestly, it doesn't affect anybody negatively for the most part. People need to leave immigrants alone.

 @B3PYBGWWomen’s Equality from Oklahoma  agreed…4mos4MO

Not all immigrants have committed harsh crimes and they should be able to choose where they live and have peace and freedom and not have to worry every day and every second if it will be the last time that they ever see their loved ones again.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...12yrs12Y

Yes, all illegal immigrants should be turned over to federal authorities and deported

 @9G9TKYF from Missouri  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Not all immigrants are involved with crime and are only looking for new opportunities to support their families and themselves. Instead, they should provide fair trial and investigation to then consider whether or not they should be deported, and if not, they should get a chance to live in America because they haven't done anything wrong but work hard and hope for a better future.

 @NationalGuy47  from Utah  disagreed…5mos5MO

Not all immigrants are involved with crime and are only looking for new opportunities to support their families and themselves.

all illegal are most certainly involved with crime because coming here illegally is a crime, and that is not supporting their families by doing illegal stuff.

 @B4HSPC2 from California  disagreed…3mos3MO

If you live in the US, someone in your bloodline was an immigrant. Who cares how they got there, a person is a person, and should be allowed to live.

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican from Maryland  commented…2mos2MO

Back then, immigration was more controlled. Now, it has gotten out of hand. Green card holders are legally here though not legal citizens yet. It's the ones who don't even apply for a residency we need to deport. Also the ones who don't provide us with any labor or economic contribution need to go.

 @9FQ6Y66 from South Dakota  disagreed…2yrs2Y

1. It is a practical impossibility to deport millions of people.
2. If it were possible, it would be ruinously expensive.
3. If possible and affordable, it would be inhumane to break up families, to disrupt peaceable people who contribute to our society, to return people to countries where they have no/weak ties and may be unable to speak the language or find a job, to deport people who themselves did not break the law because they were brought here as children, to dump people into dangerous circumstances due to crime or living conditions.

THEY ARE PEOPLE!!??? You're going to send them back to a warzone or something because they haven't filled out the correct paperwork? Why don't we just make them fill out the paperwork instead of deporting them and likely separating them from friends and family members. Who cares if they broke a clerical law by not registering correctly - it's hard to become a citizen! Does no one else have empathy???

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...12yrs12Y

No, too many non-violent immigrants are being deported

 @9FQ6Y66 from South Dakota  agreed…2yrs2Y

It is largely our own actions which have created the "border crisis." Above, I noted the ways in which we created conditions in "source" countries which have led to the migrations we're seeing. Also, we haven't properly funded immigration courts so that they can act on cases expeditiously. When someone lives in this country for years waiting for a court date, it should not be surprising that removing them at this point would be hugely disruptive to the deported person, his/her family, and often his/her US community. None of that is the fault of the immigrants.

Why would America want to ban potential citizens from our beloved country? if our country was originally brought up my immigrants why is the country all of a sudden against it?

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican from Maryland  disagreed…2mos2MO

We aren't against immigration, we're against ILLEGAL immigration. Get your facts straight! Immigration can be done legally, but they're doing it ILLEGALLY.

 @B4HS9PN from Florida  agreed…3mos3MO

If the country was originally funded by immigrants why should new immigrants not be allowed the right to become a part of our contry

 @9TNCM45 from California  answered…10mos10MO

Yes

Yes, the punishment for illegal immigration should be execution.

A one week amnesty chance where they will simply be deported to their country of origin first. Should they not take this benevolent opportunity, a few executions to show we're serious should be enough to convince most to leave of their own accord. Exceptions for victims of human trafficking, where deportation is acceptable.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington  commented…10mos10MO

Execute human traffickers, gang leaders, and drug cartel members as examples – draw and quarter them and put their heads on spears in public places. If we want to stop crime, we have to be willing to do what it takes to stop crime. We must strike terror into criminals' hearts and show them we mean business

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican from Maryland  commented…2mos2MO

Only if you can prove they've actually killed someone. If not, then death is never justified.

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican from Maryland  commented…2mos2MO

We should build a giant wall on the southern border and put sniper towers on it! Like a prison, think of Mexico as a big prison, we gotta keep them border hoppers from hopping our border.

 @8MCNGGC from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

I think that it is only fair for illegal immigrants involved in minor crimes to be referred to authorities.

 @9GZDTYYIndependent from Maryland  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, local law enforcement should be allowed to transfer immigrants to federal immigration authorities no matter what crime if they were found to be illegal

 @9DYQYY7Libertarian  from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

If someone commits a crime which falls under State jurisdiction due to it's nature, then it should be handled by the State. If it is a federal crime, then it should be prosecuted by the federal government. But a persons immigration status, while it can be a federal offense, should have no impact on the fair trial or treatment of the accused simply.

 @AnteaterLaylaRepublicanfrom Texas  asked…2yrs2Y

Would you then suggest a different approach for local law enforcement when they encounter individuals with uncertain immigration status? Or do you believe that the existing systems in place adequately address this issue?

 @8NKN247from Maine  answered…5yrs5Y

Sometimes these immigrants dont have the money to buy themselves essentials and if they really need it they should have a bit of compassion

 @NationalGuy47  from Utah  disagreed…5mos5MO

 @9H4V8MF from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

No, only if convicted of a violent crime. Law enforcement should have the ability to report to the federal government but not detain them

 @B5SP8JR from Rhode Island  answered…4wks4W

The illegality of their immigration is another issue than what they are there for, consider where they are in the citizenship process

 @Brandonnoe84Libertarian  from Colorado  answered…6mos6MO

Yes, illegal immigrants should be handed over to federal authorities and deported but there should be a simple path to citizenship for illegal immigrants with no criminal record.

 @8LQTFM7 from Massachusetts  answered…5yrs5Y

I think "deported" is a strong word and they should be put in jail like everyone else.

 @8LR3WX9Constitution from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Crime-committing illegal immigrants should be detained and deported, however, make it official with the entire deported's family on which country they need to choose to stay in for the rest of their citizenship

 @9FK25GX from Connecticut  answered…2yrs2Y

No and abolish the police and ICE

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia  commented…2yrs2Y

Okay, ICE I can understand, but destroying the police without drastic social changes we’d be unprepared. Work to make the police force less on the violent side, replace some of them with social workers and reduce qualified immunity. Lord needs to be done, but cold abolition is a really bad idea right now.

 @8W5HJMCWorkers from Florida  answered…4yrs4Y

it depends on the crime if it causes mental problems to the victim in the future then yes if not then they should have mandatory community service but in the case of a violent crime then they should be convicted

 @8LS2JK9 from Connecticut  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, as they are not citizens here they should be more aware of their actions.

Illegal immigrants should work towards gaining their citizenship. This is a hard process, but in order to live in this country one should have legal citizenship. However, one cannot come into this country illegally and expect to get away with minor crimes. They should be punished justly according to the constitution, this may include deportation. However, it is a definite deportation for larger crimes, or a higher punishment for crimes such as rape or murder.

  @ka'a'awa-54Constitution  from Hawaii  answered…2 days2D

YES... but only under a constitutionally constrained, due-process-respecting, and clearly defined legal framework that preserves civil liberties, limits abuse, and aligns with federalism.

 @B5Z7WBVSocialist from Florida  answered…2 days2D

There is much room for abuse in this case. "Minor crimes" could be trumped up charges specifically to transfer them to ICE. Profiling would most likely happen of every brown citizen, regardless if they committed a crime or not. Currently, ICE is not providing due process, they are just labeling everybody turned over to them as "criminals".

 @B5YRMHCLibertarianfrom Maine  answered…5 days5D

I believe that we should have secure borders, but the people that are contributing to society in our country should not be attacked at this high rate

 @B5Y825BIndependent from New Jersey  answered…1wk1W

I believe local law enforcement should focus on community safety, not immigration enforcement. Allowing them to detain illegal immigrants for minor crimes and transfer them to federal immigration authorities can create fear and distrust in immigrant communities. This can make people less likely to report crimes or cooperate with police, which actually makes neighborhoods less safe. Serious crimes should be handled appropriately, but using local police for immigration enforcement—especially for minor offenses—can lead to unfair treatment and racial profiling. It’s important to keep a clear line between public safety and immigration policy.

 @B5WDD24 from North Carolina  answered…2wks2W

Yes, after an accumulated amount of minor nonviolent crimes like speeding and immediately for any violent offense or offense with a victim

 @B5TXC78Independent  from Texas  answered…3wks3W

Yes but for serious crimes and crimes that involve the possibility of injure or death to another person.

 @B5TR88T from Colorado  answered…3wks3W

Yes. However misdemeanors that it is abnormal to have enforcement (and ones resulting in a innocent verdict) should be exempted.

 @B5TJ288 from Wisconsin  answered…3wks3W

Regardless, we should ban immigration globally from not just any nation, but to any region in the world

 @B5TF9RS from Massachusetts  answered…3wks3W

No, only if the minor crime carries a prison sentence that would allow the police to detain the person regardless of their immigration status.

 @B5T6WQ6  from Kentucky  answered…3wks3W

No, only if they are convicted of a violent crime. Immigration enforcement officials should focus on processing and deporting violent offenders first. Processing and deporting nonviolent offenders will take away capabilities to process violent offenders.

 @B5SH7YZ  from Michigan  answered…4wks4W

No, only is they are convicted of a violent crime; too many non-violent immigrants are being deported.

 @B5S69QZ from California  answered…4wks4W

Yes, but they should not be a high priority, despite the LA riots. In fact the rioters should have higher priority (and they do).

 @B5RYLRVfrom Guam  answered…4wks4W

First of all, the law enforcement should provide evidence that shows whether the immigrant is illegal or not!

 @B5M34D7 from Pennsylvania  answered…1mo1MO

They should be transferred to immigration authorities, who simultaneously oversee their punishment for their respective crime, and their status as an immigrant

 @B5LPDLN from New York  answered…1mo1MO

Yes, but after they have finished serving their sentence and impeach Trump for deporting them without a hearing

 @B5KKHVGSocialist from Missouri  answered…2mos2MO

Detention of persons commiting a crime should be applied equally per applicable local law. No special consideration for immigration status.

 @B5DS4VG from Texas  answered…2mos2MO

Yes, but this should not be used as an excuse to ostracize legal imagrants or harass law abiding minorities.

 @B5DCZZZ from Louisiana  answered…2mos2MO

No only if it’s violent. Anyone here illegally should be added to a registry and given a certain amount of time to begin legal citizenship or leave the country. If that is not followed then deported.

 @B59YCPCanswered…2mos2MO

yes, minor crimes are still crimes but no, transferring them to immigration authorities is too much.

 @B56HWZR from Illinois  answered…2mos2MO

depends that could be a clear sign they were a criminal or something bad in the country they immigrated from.

 @B53BRSK from Wisconsin  answered…2mos2MO

All illegal Immigrants should be checked to see if they are eligible for citizenship, and then applied after further review.

 @B5373LV from California  answered…2mos2MO

they should be enforced the same way they are to every other citizen, but wether they did certain crimes, they will be punished for doing so

 @B4W3XX3 from California  answered…3mos3MO

Generally, local law enforcement is not mandated to detain undocumented immigrants for minor crimes and transfer them to federal immigration authorities

 @B4VYWC7 from Pennsylvania  answered…3mos3MO

No, if they want to leave let them if not make them become a legal citizen and they can go through due process

 @B4VPNZS from Ohio  answered…3mos3MO

They must be vetted and documented. If they pose no risk to the public AND are willing to apply to be a resident, then they can stay. If not, they must go.

 @B4VNJPW from Pennsylvania  answered…3mos3MO

I think they should just be sent to jail, not deported. There is a reason why they came over to the United States.

 @B4T8WC5from Maine  answered…3mos3MO

Law enforcement should detain illegal immigrants under security reasons. However, it doesn't excuse the use of force like firearms should the immigrant in question be unarmed.

 @B4QPLJS from North Carolina  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, but only after creating a simplified path to citizenship for immigrants with no criminal record

 @B4PPZ9H from Colorado  answered…3mos3MO

If they commit any crime, that should always be grounds for deportation, but if they have a clean record, and don’t commit crimes and just work hard then no

 @B4MLZLP from Colorado  answered…3mos3MO

A person regardless of their stance on citizenship should only be prosecuted for the crime initially detained for.

 @B4LXM5Z from California  answered…3mos3MO

Yes I feel that illegal immigrants should be turned over to federal authorities but they should not be deported and should help get a green card instead is they have done nothing illegal.

 @B4LQ55KRepublican from Ohio  answered…3mos3MO

Officers should be able to use their discretion in situations like this. The should be allowed but not for minor offenses.

 @B4LGTZ7 from Louisiana  answered…3mos3MO

We should set a deadline for all illegal immigrants to become legal and if they fail to meet that deadline, they get deported.

 @B4LGBDT from Wisconsin  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, but if they have legal income and/or property; they should be given the chance to take a citizenship test to determine whether or not they should be deported or made a legal citizen

 @B4KW59S from North Carolina  answered…3mos3MO

I believe yes they should but that's only if they commit a violent crime and or proven of crime back from their original home,but I don't support illegal immigration but I also don't support deportation either.

 @B4KS6TJ from Illinois  answered…3mos3MO

For minor crimes, detain them for a little bit like you would a normal citizen of the USA. If they are armed and showing signs of aggression, or if they do something resulting in potential life-threatening damage, detain or deport if necessary, depending on the seriousness of the crime. but judge them like you would a regular citizen of the United States, and give them a fair trial.

 @B4KK5WM from Tennessee  answered…3mos3MO

For minor crimes, I do not think they should be turned over if they are pursuing citizenship. If they are not pursuing citizenship then, I think this should be allowed.

 @B4KFKZM from Georgia  answered…3mos3MO

If they are a productive individual, then allow them to get a visa and a fine, if they are not productive, then they should be deported but not barred from entry into the u.s.

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican  from Maryland  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, and all illegal immigrants who aren't giving us cheap labor needs to be turned over to federal authorities and deported

 @B4KD786 from Michigan  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, if they do not pay taxes and they come from a country where they could have easily applied through the legal immigration process first

 @B4KD6RL from Pennsylvania  answered…3mos3MO

Only if they are convicted of a violent crime and no too many non-violent immigrants are being deported.

 @B4KB8MW from Florida  answered…3mos3MO

Elevating a minor crime to accusation of immigration seem like a little too far. I feel that they should be at least given a fair trial and if they are found guilty, then they can be transferred to federal immigration authorities.

 @B4K5K9H from Georgia  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, should be arrested for any crime that is a serious offense, i.e some hurt/killed or drug related

 @B4JPG43 from Utah  answered…3mos3MO

I think that they should be given the chance to become citizens while living here. Especially if they've been here for a long time. If they are working, paying taxes, and NOT COMMITTING CRIMES, they should be given the FREE education to become a citizen.

 @B4JP75Z from North Carolina  answered…3mos3MO

 @B4J3CF2 from Alaska  answered…3mos3MO

 @B4J2MQV from Ohio  answered…3mos3MO

Although illegal immigration is not necessarily good, the laws preventing immigration cheaply and quickly are also not good, so there needs to be a balance.

 @B4HZVK9 from Texas  answered…3mos3MO
