Continually referring the black community to a painful past is victimizing and doesn't allow them to see themselves as anything other than pariahs of the nation. It instills hatred in the hearts of blacks, who are always reminded of these exactions, and in the hearts of whites, who can't understand why they're being blamed for something that happened 400 years ago.
It's time to move on.
