A Berlin-based palliative care doctor has been charged with the murder of 15 patients, with prosecutors alleging he acted out of a 'lust for murder.' The patients, aged between 25 and 94, were reportedly killed using lethal combinations of muscle relaxants and anesthetics between 2021 and 2024. Authorities also accuse the doctor of attempting to destroy evidence by setting fires in the victims' homes.
The 40-year-old physician has been in custody since August.
The case has shocked Germany and raised serious concerns about oversight in palliative care.
