To qualify for the subsidy 40% of the critical minerals used in electric-vehicle batteries must be sourced in the U.S. Proponents argue that the tax credits will help combat climate change by encouraging consumers to purchase EVs and stop driving gas powered automobiles. Opponents argue that the tax credits will kill the traditional auto industry and lead to significant job losses.

I believe electric vehicles are not the best path forward for better environmental and infrastructure-related policy. The USA infrastructure is far too heavily car dependent - especially when compared to certain European countries.
