In 2011 State Senator Gerald Allen proposed a "Sharia Law Amendment" to the State Senate that would prohibit Alabama Courts from making any legal decisions on the bases of Sharia Law. In 2013 the amendment was renamed The Alabama Foreign Laws in Court Amendment and will be on the state ballot in November 2014.
