“Our present system does not allow for students to fully master material needed for comprehension of future concepts. Because of time constraints, the class must move on whether students have fully grasped the material or not (tests are often not a good measurement of real comprehension). We need far more radical changes to how we educate our children. The fed has not helped in this regard, but it can help effect the type of change needed in this regard. Less emphasis on curriculum, class periods, time constraints and more emphasis on students getting the help they need to achieve a full understanding of the subject matter before moving on to more complex concepts. A greater use of the existing technology can help address the "holes" created in a student's education when they are pushed ahead without a firm understanding of the subject(s).”
