Initiative I-82 will legalize the possession and consumption of medical marijuana by adults over the age of 21 who suffer from chronic or debilitating medical conditions. The initiative would amend the 2004 Medical Marijuana Act which restricted state licensed physicians from approving medical marijuana for more than one patient. Proponents of the issue include Larry Jent and Jeff Krauss. Opponents of the issue include Purdue Pharma (the manufacturer or OxyContin,) Abbot Laboratories (maker of the opiod Vicodi) and their Super PAC Project SAM (founded by Kevin Sabet, David Frum and Patrick Kennedy).
