I have supported Israel all my life, but the victim has clearly become the perpetrator, with the complicity of the United States.
In the words of Auschwitz survivor Primo Levi - he wrote the seminal book, “Survival in Auschwitz” after the Russians arrived to find him and a handful of others at the end of the war - in 1982 Levi said in an interview, “Everybody’s somebody’s Jew,” “and today the Palestinians are the Jew of the Israeli’s.”
If Mr. Levi could see the reality more than 40 years ago, why can't we? Israel has made the Palestinian people their Other, and the world is normalizing it.
If this is now normal...who will be next?
God bless Levi, he also went on to write beautiful books that proved the power of human beings to survive such horror, to go on, to flourish…provided we refuse to relinquish our shared humanity.
