Illegal immigrants, as well as legal immigrants in the country less than five years, are not eligible for free healthcare through Medicaid. A 2007 study estimated that less than 1 percent of Medicaid spending went to healthcare for illegal immigrants. Proponents of subsidized healthcare for immigrants argue that increased access to basic preventive care will lower the demand for costly emergency care. Opponents argue that immigrants in the healthcare system run the risk of becoming "permanent patients," because they have no relatives, insurance or an established address where they can go once released.

I believe if they came here to have a better life, work, have a consistent income, and pay taxes they should be allowed healthcare especially considering kids.
@B3QM2V92mos2MO
Absolutely not. They should come here legally and get the job they work hard to do. Nobody should be allowed to break laws and come here then get paid by us to do it. Tf
@B2Y86363mos3MO
In my opinion I believe that they should have healthcare if they pay taxes or if they join the us army.
@B23DLQVIndependent5mos5MO
Yes, but there is a degree they will have to pay for it but if they liver here and has been paying for their things then they should be able to stay until otherwise.
@9WJKK9C7mos7MO
I believe if they are working towards citizenship and aren't negatively affecting the USA then it should be fine.
@9W2HCFL7mos7MO
It would depend, if they are legally citizens of the United States, and have the rights to, through papered documents.
@9T7YYK58mos8MO
Illegal immigrants should be able to access healthcare after a background check and/or become a documented immigrant before getting healthcare.
@9T2L9CGProgressive8mos8MO
Any illegal immigrant who is under the age of 18 should receive private and confidential subsidized healthcare along with the children of illegal immigrants who are U.S. citizens. Illegal immigrants who are over the age of 18 should receive private and confidential healthcare for life-threatening emergencies or infectious diseases.
@9JPGRQ71yr1Y
They should be required to become citizens first, then receive medical aid. Or, if they are in life-threatening emergencies, then it does not matter if they are citizen or not. You do not leave a person to die just because they are not one of you.
@9JP7Q351yr1Y
No one should be denied healthcare especially in emergency situations. After the illegal immigrant is treated they should be required to become a citizen of the United States or return home.
@9G5CFL42yrs2Y
i feel like they should if they are fleeing from their country because of violence or to search for more opportunities
@9DDVHLKWomen’s Equality2yrs2Y
if legal Americans struggle to gain and maintain healthcare why and how shiuld others just be able to have it
@9DCMCLS2yrs2Y
give them all the stuff they need,and then kick them back to their country.
@9623GM23yrs3Y
They should have some kind of coverage without stigma. They are still people at the end of the day and deserve to be treated as such.
@95YV7HW3yrs3Y
Yes, if they pay taxes, but their kids should have access.
yes but only if they need it
@948D37H3yrs3Y
no but deport all the bad ones and the good ones can stay and they should have to take a test or go to school to learn and then they can become a american
@948C62M3yrs3Y
I don't even see how the government finds it fair to not let immigrants have access to healthcare. Everyone should have access to it regardless of your immigration status or class.
@92YZGVG3yrs3Y
Yes, every life should be care for equally but will have to pay for the fee.
@92YX39M3yrs3Y
i think that if immigrants are willing to travel by foot just to come to the us to get healthcare then we should be more then happy to help them in my mind i believe that everyone should have access to healthcare no matter what and you shouldn't have to almost die to get it. you should just be able to drive over and get the help you need.
@92R7DPV3yrs3Y
Yes, but only for life threatening emergencies and infectious diseases and as long as they pay for it.
@92MZKVQ3yrs3Y
Illegal immigrants should be treated, but whether of not to have them deported would depend on the situation in their home country.
Depending if they are going for a visit or there trying to settle so it depends on the situation some people who come here may be nomads.
@92DJNPM3yrs3Y
Yes, but they should be actively pursuing legal citizenship and following all US rules
@929LTTCIndependent3yrs3Y
depends how longs they have been
@9292FB53yrs3Y
We should all have access to government health care
@9255MNXRepublican3yrs3Y
I think we should not have people relying on government aided healthcare unless they truly need it. But that goes for everyone and includes everyone.
@8ZNMS9K3yrs3Y
No, but their childen should have access and theh shoould be able to private pay.
@8YJF8ZL3yrs3Y
Depends on the type of Health Care
@8YHKPNCWomen’s Equality3yrs3Y
Yes, they are still people, illegal or legal
@8Y8PYQ83yrs3Y
It should be offered on the basis of how it’s offered to everyone else. But at that standpoint that they need to be checked up for no insurance fraud or taking advantage of a patient unless it’s serious
@8XHVN5K3yrs3Y
no, they should either be deported or apply for the green card
@8X9GR974yrs4Y
They should have to to undergo a background check and have to apply and be granted citizenship right after treatment.
Yes in the event of life threatening emergency and infectious diseases as well as for children
@8X2XZM24yrs4Y
yes, as long as they are contributing to society
@8WVWWDG4yrs4Y
No, unless it is a life threatening emergency or an infectious disease, but they should have an easier path to citizenship.
@8VZZ4V94yrs4Y
I think it’s the same as Obama care. If they are coming here to better themselves and start a new life as most of them are then it’s okay as long as they show effort
@8VQJ8HV4yrs4Y
Yes, if they are providing for our tax dollars.
if they cant afford anything else then yes
@8TWC23T4yrs4Y
Yes, but that is if they were born in america illegally. Those people didn't choose the life of being an illegal immigrant and therefore if they need help then they should be able to get help with healthcare to help them get on their feet until they get a green card/visa
@8TVNFX54yrs4Y
It should be made easier for the innocent people to become citizens so they can have healthcare. But illegal immigrants shouldn't all get access to it because some of these people are here illegally to do illegal things, such as sex traffick, sell drugs, etc.
@8RT4C3Z4yrs4Y
This question is absolutely ridiculous. The keyword here being illegal meaning they broke our law‘s to enter our country on what planet has it ever yielded positive results when negative actions are rewarded. None the answer is none and it never will so why on earth would we spend taxpaying dollars to support the breaking of our laws the very laws that the taxpaying dollars support I mean come on...
@8Q57CS84yrs4Y
Yes they should get healthcare but after they go through the citizenship processors.
No, they are not citizens. Again, reworking the system to encourage legal immigration will help.
@8L8R7LD5yrs5Y
They should pay on some kind of sliding scale coverage according to what they make and they should have to show proof of income to get it. It can be government subsidized as long as they are also paying into it. They should not get all the same benefits as citizens or there is no incentive to be one. If they are illegal with no income they should be deported.
@8G8X3JK5yrs5Y
All humans should have access to affordable quality healthcare regardless of citizenship
@8FN47455yrs5Y
If they try to become american citizens, then yes I genuinely believe they should have access to healthcare.
@9C6RM4S2yrs2Y
If they are trying to become a U.S. citizen and are paying taxes a.They should also be allowed acesss during emergencies
@99FBSRB2yrs2Y
It depends on the situation that they are in.
@99F4SQ92yrs2Y
Yes as long as they are working towards gaining citizenship and are learning English.
@99227QQ2yrs2Y
Yes, and no person should be "illegal"
@99225432yrs2Y
Yes, and stop using outdated language
@98QM9SSLibertarian2yrs2Y
I mean healthcare should be provided to anyone really.
@98NQVQM2yrs2Y
Yes, if they pay taxes and are forced under all government and social responsibility given to all US Citizens.
@98BVVJD2yrs2Y
No, they are not citizens, so they shouldn´t get healthcare over actual citizens.
@98BT8LQ2yrs2Y
No, they should go through the process to become a legal citizen then get provided the health care.
@96ST8KR3yrs3Y
they chould have to become citizens after they are healthy
@92YX6C63yrs3Y
Healthcare should be available to anyone if they properly pay, whether with insurance or out of pocket. Illegal immigrants are no exception, healthcare is one of the basic needs as humans, by not allowing this, we dehumanize these people and could possibly be sentencing them to a painful death.
If they do not pose as a threat and are innocent then yes.
@8W26MQJ4yrs4Y
If they are working in our country.
@8NTMRKR5yrs5Y
All people within the borders of the United States should receive healthcare if it is needed, regardless of citizenship status.
@8KH5KFW5yrs5Y
Yes, but only for life threatening emergencies or infectious diseases once per individual only if deemed acceptable circumstances, not to be abused at the cost of the United States, and then should be promptly deported.
@8R3TVPT4yrs4Y
No because then it uses materials that were reserved for U.S. citizens and then there won't be enough for U.S. citizens
@9K5WWPW1yr1Y
yes but also no i would say it depends on how it happens if a person crosses and attacks guards and others for no reason then no if they are in actual need of protection where their life is on the line then yes
@8R3TLZ94yrs4Y
I don't even know what subsidized healthcare is, so maybe.
