There are conflicting reports on the number of missiles fired at Israel: Israeli army radio says it was somewhere between 100 and 200, while Iran’s state TV says the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched “tens of ballistic missiles.”
The Iranian reports say the barrage is the retaliation we’ve been expecting for months for the killing of senior figures in its proxy militant groups Hamas and Hezbollah (the most recent was Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah). The Iranian report adds Israel will face “more devastating attacks” if it retaliates for this round.
Iranian state-run media report the missiles fired as being the "first wave" of an attack. The reports also say that the missiles have hit targets in Israel - that runs counter to the Israeli military which says the explosions being heard include interceptions.
All of the footage of Iranian missiles hitting Israel is surreal. They are targeting military targets, not residential neighborhoods the way Israel does. The goal doesn’t just seem to be retaliation for the killing of Nasrallah, Haniyeh, for the invasion of Lebanon - the goal also seems to be to deter further escalation as well as weaken Israeli capabilities to continue bombing.
This is the striking difference between the two countries. Israel is a genocidal monster that doesn’t distinguish between babies and combatant. Civilian buildings and military installations. While went after Mossad IOF bases.

While targeting military installations might be seen as more justified than civilian areas, we must question the cycle of violence. Diplomacy should be our first response, not missiles.

Iron Dome is designed to intercept short range rockets, not ballistic missiles. Ballistic missiles come at angles and speeds the trackers have difficulty calculating in time. Combined with the sheer number of missiles, Iron Dome is unable to intercept more than a handful.

Escalation will only lead to more suffering. We need to engage with international bodies to mediate peace talks
The Biden White House has October Surprised their own candidate. A historical first, I think.

Oh, great. Another chapter in 'Who's Got the Bigger Missile?' Meanwhile, our local billionaires are still dodging taxes like it's an Olympic sport.
Israel has the divine right to defend itself, but we must also remember the teachings of peace. Iran's actions could be seen as God's way of testing Israel's resolve, yet we should pray for de-escalation and protection of all innocents
This is a justified response to the oppression faced by Muslims. However, the strategy should not just be military; it must also involve strengthening our communities against such threats.
This is the result of endless cycles of retaliation. We should focus on the human cost of these conflicts. Both sides need to be held accountable for their actions against civilians, promoting dialogue over missiles
