Vice President Kamala Harris has made a decision on her running mate, with four people close to the process saying Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota is her choice.
Harris had not formally called Walz to offer him the position, a source familiar with process told CNN.

Holy **** , I can’t believe she picked Tim Walz. She’s going to win. That’s a bold choice. Democrats are never bold. The attitude is even more important than the pick, even though the pick is excellent. If she’s the type who picks Walz, she might even try to get things done!
@G3rrymanderElandRepublican8mos8MO
Picking Walz was an absolute gift to us. It’s going to do wonders for Trump and his campaign. You guys are still screwed.😂
@MinorityLillianRepublican8mos8MO
Without question
What does Walz give them??
They were going to win Minnesota anyway and he has a lot of policy positions that are going to not play well in middle America.
She just took on a whole lot of pain and didn't lock down the most important swing state in the entire election
This was a huge gift to the Republican party
@B1cameralOtterSocialist8mos8MO
Gov. Shapiro would have been a way stronger VP pick politically for Dems, but the whole possibility he covered up a murder for his friend is like a made for TV drama that no one would risk elevating. PA Supreme Court reopening the case last week sealed it for him.
@MinorityLillianRepublican8mos8MO
Also the democratic party is filled with out of the closet Jew haters so Shapiro was never happening, but the rumors of a nom were definitely a gift of exposure for Ellen Greenberg’s family and their hopes for justice. God works in mysterious ways.
@B1cameralOtterSocialist8mos8MO
Mmm, yes. The party of Chuck Schumer, Bernie Sanders, Doug Emhoff, Feinstein, Wyden… absolutely. Remind me of all the GOP Jewish legislators again?

It is amazing that Vice President Harris had a chance to move toward the center, pick her Governor of Pennsylvania whose 19 electoral vogues could easily be the margin of victory and who is closer to the center than she is and skipped him, in part because of anti-Semitic opposition from the pro-Palestinian wing of the Democratic Party, for a hard left Governor of Minnesota who had been endorsed by Bernie Sanders. We learned a lot about her in that process. Avoid conflict, appease the left.
@LeftLeaningMikeyVeteran8mos8MO
He did literally did nothing to clamp down on the George Floyd riots and she helped bail out the Minneapolis rioters. Seems as though they're the perfect match.
@MinorityLillianRepublican8mos8MO
PA Governor Josh Shapiro should change parties. Pro-Israel candidates are welcome in the GOP.
@ParliamentAndyDemocrat8mos8MO
Fetterman had the worst debate performance in history. Yet won in Pennsylvania…
Shapiro baffled me as veep… Pennsylvania isn’t in play in the modern ballot game. They don’t need to “win” Pennsylvania. It’s won.
@J0intCommitt3eRavenForward8mos8MO
The likely impact of Walz:
organized labor pleased, motivated to rally
progressives comfortable w/ him
centrists/vulnerable Ds sigh of relief since he's seen as folksy, funny
military service, educator roots get DNC spotlight
Rather than pick the very popular governor of a neck-and-neck must-win purple state, Harris chose a dime-a-dozen blue-state governor who gives feels to progressives. That's about what I'd have expected from her a month ago.
@MinorityWhipMooseVeteran8mos8MO
This would hold up better if a) Walz’s resume and speaking chops were a dime a dozen and b) Mich and Wisc weren’t pivotal for the VP and c) Minn was Illinois
But besides that
@EuphoricL0bby1stVeteran8mos8MO
Extremely weird to hold the announcement rally in Pennsylvania when you’ve just pissed away your best chance to win the state
@MinorityLillianRepublican8mos8MO
Thinking she may have changed her mind over the last few days. She got spooked with Shapiro.
@Gr4ssrootJerkyDemocrat8mos8MO
She's not an anti-semite ... but the pick indicates she's scared **** less of pissing off the anti-semite vote.
@ParliamentAndyDemocrat8mos8MO
1. Shows the power of social media. Literally drove a news cycle with "weird".
2. Shows the power of being seen as a nice/non-divisive guy..
-Zero sign he helps electorally.
- Zero sign he hurts electorally.
@YearningCheeseGreen8mos8MO
Walz didn't experience social media vitality by chance though - he has a genuine power to connect with people. Trump has it. Bernie has it.
When you get the guy in front of a crowd they will love him, and he's been an effective governor.
Really good choice IMO.
@ThirdPartyAbaloneDemocrat8mos8MO
Picking Walz because he isn't a Jew. Man the D party is just full on anti-Semitic.
Shapiro would have been the pick of a candidate absolutely confident in her position and her ability to bring every part of the party in line.
@Lobby1stDanLibertarian8mos8MO
The choice of Walz makes me think that they must be really worried about their progressive wing to have not gone for a perceived moderate. I suspect it is cos Sharpiro turned it down cos he has presidential ambitions which will be impossible if Harris wins or loses.
Congratulations to Governor Tim Walz, a fellow white dude. Thank you for showing that us white dudes can still make it in America
@DunbirdEllieSocialist8mos8MO
shapiro failing is a good sign of the strength of the gaza movement. but the genocide is still happening, and harris has still sent no *policy* (as opposed to vibes) signal that she will take the steps needed to end it. we can't let that reality fade into the background.
Harris will Walz into the Oval Office.
@HushedMeerkatGreen8mos8MO
A lot of reasons that Shapiro wasn't picked—the murder he covered up, the sexual harassment scandal in his office, for example—but shouldn't be overlooked that his connection to Israel was also a political detriment.
the fact he had to explain this and was being aggressively challenged on it marks a change in how Palestine is seen politically
@NurturingZealousDemocrat8mos8MO
Everyone knows why she didn’t pick Shapiro, to appease her far left base. The Trump Campaign is giddy over this gaffe
@Floyd1550Democrat8mos8MO
This I’m ok with. I’d loved to have seen a more “powerhouse” pick, but Walz is definitely an appealing choice. Good humored, decent track record, Military experience, and connects with the progressive base. Strategically, I like him. However, I would have liked a Newsom energy or Shapiro power play.
@SausageDickSocialist8mos8MO
Let’s freaking go. Congrats to Harris and Walz
@Bl4ckBoxHeronGreen8mos8MO
It’s the right choice to appeal to the voters we need, to maintain this amazing unity and energy, to win this existential election, and then to do what Walz did in MN—enact the popular Democratic agenda that will improve people’s lives and build a better world. LFG!!!
@LolliesAudreyRepublican8mos8MO
Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota thinks kids should be able to undergo s*x change surgery, cut off their body parts, and get sterilized and chemically castrated by injecting irreversible puberty blockers and hormones which are linked to many dangerous long-term side effects.
@CockatooAuroraTranshumanist8mos8MO
Last year Tim Walz signed an executive order that made Minnesota a sanctuary state for child gender abuse. He invited families like this one who are transitioning their 6 year-olds. He's incredibly evil, which makes him a perfect fit for Kamala's VP.
