“We’re dealing with horrific circumstances,” said Khalil el-Halabi, a retired U.N. official in his 70s who left Rafah last week for Al-Mawasi, a beachside area that Israel has designated as a “humanitarian zone.”
“We don’t have what we need,” Mr. Halabi said. “We can barely even find water.”
More than 800,000 people have left Rafah in the past two weeks, a United Nations official said on Monday. Israel’s military said the same day that more than 950,000 civilians in the city had relocated since it gave expanded evacuation orders. A military spokesman said about 300,000 to 400,000 civilians remain there.
The latest wave of displacement in Gaza began on May 6 when Israel sent out evacuation notices and launched military operations in eastern Rafah, which is along the border with Egypt. More than half of the enclave’s civilians had been seeking refuge in the city — most of them after fleeing fighting elsewhere in Gaza multiple times.

Israel will never freeze settlements or seriously engage in any peace talks, they never did before it was always accompanied by increased settlement activity.
Now the Palestinians will never accept a ”long term plan” as that is the same as a ”no term plan”.
Biden needs to Stop sending my money to support apartheid and genocide. The only problem with complaining about Biden is Trump would do worse in blind support of a foreign country.

The entire Middle East has marched too far to the right, with human rights only for some and entire countries treated as enemies.
With the great ease of demonizing the Other with simplistic narratives, too many refuse to believe in the humanity of others. Without an agreement accepting the basic humanity of all, this conflict — and many others — will continue.
The US unequivocally supporting this war is a bad idea. It risks radicalizing those in Gaza who lost their families. This hurts both Israel and the US.
Unfortunately I think Israel is ending. If this country had taken a reasonable route and made some attempt to accept Palestinians rights then some hope remained... but everyone can now see that this hasn't happened. The emperor has no clothes.

Tragically, Israel has become indistinguishable in many ways from the other states in the Middle East: tribal; run by one tribe that suppresses the rights of the others, to the point of genocidal action if possible; indifferent to the rule of law.
What is now the only remaining difference from those other states - the name of the tribe - could once be used as a call for unity and support. But now, to support Israel is to bring shame on oneself.
October 6 was a tragedy for Israel, but a stroke of luck for Netanyahu, who has now made it a godsend for Israel's enemies, of which he is the greatest.

This conflict is the same story that has been playing out for over 2000 years. Now, armed with modern weapons, the story results in terrible devastation.
How can it ever end if the participants do not relinquish claims of divine providence and holy justification? Maybe that's the real reason why it has not ended and probably never will.
