California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker both recently cut checks for a candidate in this month's mayoral election in Charleston, S.C., Axios has learned.
Why it matters: The donations to Charleston candidate Clay Middleton signal White House ambitions for both governors, as South Carolina recently moved to the front of the Democratic presidential primary calendar.
The moves by Newsom and Pritzker are part of a larger pattern of ambitious Democrats upping their national profiles ahead of 2028 or even 2024 in the unlikely case President Biden decides not to run for re-election in the face of poor poll numbers. It's also a boon for Middleton — a longtime former aide to South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn and Democratic presidential candidates — as he tries to defeat the incumbent Democratic mayor, John Tecklenburg, in the Nov. 7 election.

Go anywhere in the United States tonight and say this:
“I can’t believe the best we can do as a nation is two 80 year old wack jobs for President this next go round”
and most of the room will nod their heads dejectedly and “yep”.
Yet we all accept it, apparently.
We don’t have to do that again, y’all.
We're not going to.
Prediction: DeSantis wins Iowa and New Hampshire. Trump fans go nuts but it becomes apparent within days the campaign is broke and doesn't even place top-2 in South Carolina.
Once Trump is done, Dems dump Biden and Newsom becomes the apparent nominee.

If given the choice of California v Florida for government, laws, and taxes Florida is going to win big.
It's the national conversation we need to have, to be honest. It'll also be healthy for both parties long term to be rid of Trump and Biden.

Democrats haven't fully had a quack like Trump or Sanders take the lead yet. I worry of that possibility coming up.

California this is where he spends your tax dollars pushing his agenda nationally!
