They should not be used on the daily for fun. Acts they are used in are highly inhumane.

guns themselves are used in those acts, however it is the user's decision to have used the gun that way, a properly trained and responsible person wouldn't use his/her gun to commit such crimes which leads me to believe it is the shooter's fault not the gun's fault.
@9GCHZ9D1yr1Y
Guns are a tool, with their primary use being self-defense. They also have possibility to be used recreationally. Criminals will find ways to harm and/or kill others, even without guns. Look at Europe, as almost all countries have bans on guns, yet they have astonishingly high crime rates. Stabbings and beatings are daily occurrences, which is a much more inhumane way to die than instantaneous death from a bullet.
“Look at Europe, as almost all countries have bans on guns, yet they have astonishingly high crime rates.”
The overall homicide rate is significantly lower than in Europe than the United States. The homicide rate in the U.S. is more than five times higher than in the U.K. According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the U.S. has one of the highest rates of gun-related deaths among developed countries, while many European countries with stricter gun laws have comparatively lower rates.
It's also worth noting that the gun ban in Europe isn't absolute. For example, in Switzerland, a country with relatively high gun ownership, the process of obtaining a firearm is rigorous, including a thorough background check, mandatory training, and regular re-qualification.

Guns are used for hunting and self defense. Most guns are not used daily but there is a fun aspect to some types of firearms when done safely, like trap shooting and range competitions. Some acts that they are used for are inhumane but most of these acts are completed with unregistered or illlegal purchased firearms.
The tradition of hunting and sport shooting has a long history and is deeply rooted in many cultures. The Olympic Games have included shooting events since 1896. As for self-defense, consider Switzerland, where a significant portion of the population is armed, but gun-related crime is relatively low.
@9GBSWZX1yr1Y
Taking guns away from the law abiding citizens isn't gonna solve this issues. Criminals will still get them illegally. Instead you're leaving me defenseless when somebody decides to go on a crime spree and break into my house.
@9GBSWKG1yr1Y
Sometimes guns are extremely useful in many ways, for protection, for in use of hunting, and many other things and how would they be inhumane if somebody had a genuine interest in them its just like any other hobby if they aren’t hurting anybody they don’t have to I don’t see the problem.
@9GBVGJ31yr1Y
They can also be used to protect from intense violence, no matter what, banning guns won't stop criminals from using them.
@Anelms 1yr1Y
Their purpose is to inflict violence of some sort; however, it is extremely important to not let the state develop a monopoly on the capability of violence. This is why the 2nd amendment was written in the first place, to prevent tyranny, however, I'll focus on individual protection for this argument. Individuals have a natural right of self-preservation. In a country where there are more guns than people, having a gun and getting adequate training is an individual's best defense against someone with a gun. Civilians should own guns for the same reasons why police officers and the… Read more

“n 2021 there were around 12,500 firearm homicides in America, but the CDC estimates that on average there are 60,000-2.2 million defensive uses of firearms per year. This is a big range, however, even the lowest estimate is 5 times more than the firearm homicides of 2022. Self-protection is not highly inhumane but the most humane thing someone can do. DeShaney v. Winnebago ma”
The 2nd amendment was established at a time when the newly formed U.S didn't have a standing army or a police force, and the citizens being armed was a necessity. Today, we have a professional police force and military for our protection.
As for the CDC estimates, the wide range between 60,000 and 2.2 million defensive uses of firearms per year indicates a significant degree of uncertainty in the data. It's also important to remember that not all defensive uses are necessarily preventing a crime. Sometimes, the presence of a firearm can escalate a non-lethal situation into a lethal one.
The DeShaney v. Winnebago case indeed ruled that the government has no constitutional duty to protect individuals, but can't this be seen as a reason to invest more in community safety measures, rather than arming every individual?
Many people use guns for hunting, sport shooting, and most importantly, personal protection. For instance, in rural areas where police response can be slower due to distance, owning a gun could mean the difference between life and death during a home invasion.
@9GDCMPL1yr1Y
Citizens should have access to all weapons the government has to prevent government tyranny. President Jefferson was correct when he said the government needs to be purged about every 80 years.
@9GC4GCF1yr1Y
Guns are not just used for violence. They are used for recreational hunting and self-defense. Some people believe in killing what they so they know where their food is coming from.
@9GBV8CV1yr1Y
If the entire U.S. Government were to disappear one day, the last people standing will be the ones with guns.
@9GF76YV1yr1Y
Hunting can be a good way to get meat for a low income family and guns carried for self defense are not use daily for fun.
WhIn 2019, for instance, 39,707 people were killed by firearms in the U.S. What if we tried to focus more on improving social support systems, so that low-income families aren't reliant on hunting for sustenance? Regarding self-defense, studies have shown that a gun is more likely to be used in a domestic homicide than against an intruder.
@9GFMR821yr1Y
Guns can be the difference between life and death when it comes to protecting your family. People say they hate guns until someone is breaking into their home trying to hurt their family. Our country is a free country because of a war that involved guns.
@9GBVLMK1yr1Y
Gun are also used for protection, though I agree they should not be used for fun. Still, maybe having more regulation on owning a gun should be created
@9GBTHWK1yr1Y
We should be allowed to protect ourselves from other people who have guns. The black market and illegal trade will not go away if we make it illegal for citizens to own guns. It will just make it easier for gangs and cartel to get what they want.
@9GGJZ2NRepublican1yr1Y
Completely wrong. Guns have a variety of other uses. It is what separates citizen from subject.. recreation and self defense alone are more than enough to justify gun ownership.
@9GBSXYJ1yr1Y
They are not used for fun acts. They work as 2 key roles 1 protection and 2 defending against tyranny.
@9GH72NZRepublican1yr1Y
It is not the guns that insight violence but the people who use them in a violent manner so we should be focusing on mental health and how to help people with them then we are on guns and making it harder on good and honest Americans to get even a pistol for protection.
Guns, when used responsibly, can serve as a crucial means of self-defense. Banning all guns could potentially leave law-abiding citizens defenseless. The focus should be on enforcing stricter regulations on gun misuse, rather than an outright ban.
Lets not forget that there are many other countries where guns are easily accessible, yet they don't have the same level of gun violence. This indicates that the problem isn't necessarily the availability of guns, but rather other societal issues that need to be addressed. Until we do that, taking away guns is a superficial solution.
@9GBT92C1yr1Y
Guns are used by the people for control. If more laws are put against owning firearms, the citizens who try to protect themselves will be fatigued rather than the person that is holding them at gunpoint.
@9GFDNCSRepublican1yr1Y
Guns can be used for recreational activities, like hunting (lawfully) and target shooting. While people misuse them, that cannot be controlled. As long as people have free will there will be some that abuse it. We should not, however, take away that free will on account of the misuse of others.
@9GCY7WZ1yr1Y
Arguing guns are inhumane you have to bring in knives as well because being stabbed is a lot worse than shot either way guns are used for much more rather than to kill and either way most guns found in murder scenes are bought illeagally anyhow
